Hello everyone this is my first post

So I have been a Nintendo player for years and after just watching a review of Zelda breathe of the wild I have decided it looks so amazing that I need to play and I am willing to buy a console to.

I don't have the wii u and I am very confused about this and the switch.

Basically if I am going to buy a console I would rather invest in one that isn't going to be outdated soon : as in Nintendo will stop releasing the newer titles in 3 years on the console I am about to drop $300 on.

So my question is this : is the switch the next generation of Nintendo consoles ? as in Nintendo will begin releasing games JUST for the switch and NOT the wii U?

Or is the switch sort of a mid generation upgrade? As in all major titles will be released for wii u and switch until the conclusion of this generation?

Nintendo is no longer producing games for the Wii U, however, they will continue to support the 3DS family of systems for the foreseeable future.

Get Switch.

Welcome! Yes, if you want the Nintendo console that is going to receive Nintendo's full-fledged support from now on, it is indeed the Switch. The Wii U is no longer being produced.

I would go for the switch man i did not purchase the WII U but after seeing the game play for Breath of the wild i had to purchase the switch and do not regret it, Some great titles in the near future as well which is something to consider!

If you have a Wii U, keep it and enjoy the many games on that system. I kept mine and have a Switch; in fact I'm going to finish up a game today on the Wii U.

Don't get a Wii U. That system is long gone, whereas the Switch was just released about 8 days ago.

Yes Dude,
Switch is the way to go. Its not only Nintendos next generation console but also the first 9th generation console. Its that good.
Currently, its pure gold for the money and your best bet to have a premium game guarantee for the next ... puh, who knows, we could be on Mars by then. Just look at the Switch-Shop, its hard to pick a bad game (try that new farming game, especially on the go - A BLAST). A huge free storage space already comes with the switch included and you can upgrade it anyway. Its a smart design.
The switch is not a cheap mid-generation upgrade, as you might imply, no. Its powered by a customized nVidia X1 processor. Some people always nag on the fact that this processor was released in 2013, but thanks to that, there has been lots of stuff optimized and it wasnt necessary to use the new niVidia X2 one instead. Its that good.
With enough power under its belt, the magicians at Nintendo focused more on the final finish touches. The docking-station is perfect, looks like a piece of art and looks especially impressive next to your yahama/denon sets (well, any really, but especially with denon its like a perfect match). The screen is virtually what you would expect today. Its really that good. It has all the right colors and its really good.

One little advise, as much joy as I have with the Joy-Cons, I usually only use them for my extensive 1-2-Switch party sessions with friends, but for everything else I recommend you to get the Pro Controller along (its only 70 euros and its in black, which is really cool).

The switch has also USB Ports - which is really cool.

Not sure you can actually get one because by reports it seems to be sold out worldwide and you can perhaps find a scalper for 1000, but I would recommend to wait and preorder now. Its that good. You will be looking at around 500-ish for a full package, but its not really a full package without the new construction-simulation. If you get Zelda, you just have to get it to see its not only all about Zelda.

As mentioned above, the Switch will be the console Nintendo is supporting. The Wii U is still an amazing console, but it will not be receiving any new retail releases. The console itself is almost impossible to find in the wild at this point.

@ironside1911 I can't tell if your response is parody or true admiration. An excellent read either way.

i say get both but get the switch now if you can and wait for the wiiu to drop on ebay its gone down 100$ in the last two weeks. can nab one on ebay from nintendo right now for 200$ refurbished. good thing about the WiiU right now is the games are damn cheap ive been building my catalog, just bought at gamestop twilight princess mario 3d mario maker the yoshi game and treasure hunter with toad amiibo all for 125$ mario maker being the most expensive at 40$

the WiiU is officially dead as of the release of the new Zelda nintendo announced thats the last 1st party game coming to it and 3rd party support has all but dried up....also they stopped selling new systems in August 2016 only ones in the wild after that were backstop and used....hell when i replaced my broken wiiU it cost me the same as the damn switch and the WiiU was used.

Don't worry. By the time it's more widely available, there'll be plenty more games (and accessories too I hope!) to choose from.
