They can do whatever they want as long as they realise that Paper Mario's true strength was in its story, comedy and wit. Simply show them Thousand Year Door and say "See that? We want something LIKE THAT!!". We want Agatha Christie murders on trains or ships, professional wrestling tournaments, perhaps a stint as an insurance salesman or a debt collector.
What we DON't want is: Grass Lands, Desert, Ocean, Jungle, Ice World, Fire World, Boss, nn-ch-nn-ch-nn-ch-nn.
