I was wondering: Because of the new function for a Switch controller to be split into two, for MK8D, can two people play on one screen and two play on the other screen? I know in regular MK8, on the Wii U game pad it was still split in 4. Better explanation: P1 and P2 on P1's Switch and P3 and P4 on P4's Switch? It may help with future games (Question)
Up to 8 Switch consoles can communicate wirelessly in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, however, there is a limit of 2 players per console, and a limit of 8 players in total.
There is no difference in the number of players supported between TV and tabletop mode. You can theoretically play MK8D with up to four players in tabletop mode, but it's just not recommended, and I doubt that it would be an enjoyable experience on a screen so small.
The OP was asking about multiplayer across multiple Switch consoles.
There is a limit of two players per console in WIRELESS MULTIPLAYER mode.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
