@gcunit Hi there, I'm from the future. I came back using my Panasonic timeskip time machine from the year 2019 and I'm still getting a kick out of milking a virtual cow. However Emperor Trump has banned actually cows because he doesn't like the way they look at him so it's more for nostalgia than actually enjoying the game. Peace.
And, just personally, having had two kids, the idea of paying to pretend to try and put a crying baby to bed has lost some of its appeal.
How many times is any single person going to want to count marbles in a box or pretend to milk a cow?
I love how unenthused you are about this. I completely understand where you're coming from.
The only selling point for me is the WarioWare-style experimental use of the HD rumble feature, and the unlikely probability that others may be interested in giving it a try if I happen to take my Switch out with me. Nintendo are smart for releasing this as a launch title only because it is the only period in which they can demand a premium price of admission for this glorified tech demo. Frankly, there has been a lot worse during the launch period of the DS, but that isn't exactly a pedigree to aspire to.
Having played it, I am hyped for 1-2 Switch, but maybe cause my wife and I will use it a lot and play against each other.
I will say, unless it has been revealed and I missed it, I am disappointed with how the game is presented. It looks like you pick a game, play it, and then have to pick another, repeat.
I would love to see the ability to make a "playlist" of your top 5-10 games to play in a row with minimum lag between. Or a random party mode where the game rapid fires 5-10 games at random with little downtime.
So for me its a thumbs up on the game as a whole, but thumbs a little downward on the presentation.
I'm warming up to the idea of 1-2 Switch. I think it'll be neat to just grab the Switch console on my way to visit friends or family and then have an accessible, fun game to play without any setup on their TV. It is a unique way to play 'video games' where you are encouraged not to look at the TV. Although, I can't say I'd want to be playing the cow milking game with family members.
There are board games that are highly strategic and others that just aim to be fun. I think it is okay to have some video games in the Switch library that fall into the latter category.
Traditional 'Pro' controllers are a barrier for entry and for fun for a lot of people, so I think it does make sense for Nintendo to try and have some games that are easier for people to get into to broaden the appeal of video games. Mobile gaming and Wii show that lots of people will play video games if they have easier control inputs.
We'll see how the game actually turns out in a couple of weeks but I'm now considering purchasing 1-2 Switch.
@Late Those were my thoughts --> It's just not enough content to justify 50 bucks (over 60 here because I'm in Canada). Some of the minigames look generally good (Shotgun, Lock combo, Wizard Duel, Sword fighting) but all these would be impressive as part of a LARGER collection.
The milking minigame, shaving, picking up a phone (really?), and picking up a baby (REALLY?!) seem completely pointless. Definitely not worth 2-3$ each
This has more content than sports resort and lots of other games. Why ppl complain?
It totally does not. Sports resort had fleshed out sports with more than one method of playing in many cases. In addition, it came with Wii Motion Plus.
The 1,2-Switch minigames are not fleshed out (way shorter), it appears there is only one way of playing each of them, and it seems a lot of them are way less replayable. Who will want to count marbles more than once or twice? Maybe if it came with an accessory like an extra Joy-Con then the price would be justifiable
That was an activity in WarioWare: Smooth Moves on Wii, but it was just one of a couple of hundred of 5-second-long "microgames", and not a "game" in and of itself per se. What also made that activity endearing on Wii was the fact that the Wii Remote speaker would produce a ringing noise in order to prompt the player to pick it up (and as far as I'm aware, the Joy-Cons and Pro Controller do not have speakers).
There was also a Wii game built primarily around that concept in Babysitting Mama, where the Wii Remote would be inserted into the baby's tuchus (the game included a plush baby), in order to give it motion sensing capability (and the nunchuk attachment would be used as a milk bottle/control mechanism). So... the concept's been done before, and arguably better. =P
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
There's a party mode that shuffles all of the activities. It claims to support up to 20 players, but it doesn't give you the option to register any players at all, so it's up to each team (the Left and Right teams) to decide among themselves who plays which activity. A tournament mode could have gone a long way with a title like this.
There's no score retention or anything of the sort from what I've gathered so far, and you'll need to play around 4 activities or so before the game will unlock all of the possible activities in the game (you only have access to 5-6 activities when you first boot the software).
Disappointment would be an understatement, and I wasn't as impressed with the HD rumble as I had hoped (it's cool, but not game-changingly so). Best suited for people who regularly have parties/gatherings and for families with multiple children.

Not majorly impressed either. It feels like half a game, the way you choose mini games/team mode/shuffle mode, the way you navigate, the lack of menus, it's just a very "cheap" feeling game. It definitely should have been a pack-in game as the £34 doesn't feel very well spent.
On the other hand though, a few of the games are really fun and I reckon at a party this will be a great laugh. I was certainly laughing at the games I knew least about.
It is badly overpriced though. Some of the games are so shallow that you'd have seen and done everything that the activity has to offer after only a minute or two (and such games only last for a matter of seconds, unless you wish to play it again).
To its credit, it is designed to be extremely accessible and multiplayer friendly, even more so than the likes of Wii Sports, but this just screams "pack-in". Expect this to be bundled alongside the hot holiday release by the end of the year. Anti-social hermits need not apply.
@ProjectX1991
Yes, I HATE how you choose the games and the general menu setup. It does feel really cheap.
My wife and I played a few of the games last night and had fun, though. Some of the games are duds (like the tabletennis - that still just doesn't feel intuitive to me) and some of them feel like copies (like the Yoga and Dance ones, kind of), but others are really funny and fun (the BeachFlag race - lol!). It's not a game that you're going to sink your teeth into for hours in one sitting, but for a fun half-hour with your significant other or a couple friends every now and then, I think I'll get some enjoyment out of it.
