If Zelda U is still coming out on WII U that means we will have to wait 4 years for a new NX game. Would you prefer they just made it bad ass and launch on the new nintendo system or still have it on WII U?
Its a tough one....
I still want it for Wii U, within a year. I don't think the Zelda delay is a huge delay like a lot of others think. By this time next year, I think we will be playing Zelda U. Having to wait until winter 2017 at the earliest for the NX to launch with Zelda U would be terrible.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Obligatory "we have no idea what the NX is, yadda yadda" disclaimer.
Having to wait 4 years for the NX game isn't really that big a deal for a couple of reasons. One of them is, the NX probably won't be released at all until 2017 is well under way, meaning a new Zelda wouldn't be released nearly as far into that console's lifespan as it's being release on the Wii U's. Furthermore, if the NX is a home console, you can bet we'll get some sort of remake before the original Zelda title (maybe a Skyward Sword with traditional controls? I'd like that).
No tough decision at all for me. It's meant for WiiU, period. Skipping an entire console would be much worse (we only got an HD remake on it so far), and the long waiting time between home console Zelda games makes each one much more fascinating.
Here's what I gather re: Zelda and NX: Zelda U will remain Zelda U as the main game however, NX will have support functionality in some magical Nintendo way. This support will also extend to a mobile app. I think Zelda U is being reworked to have companion applications on NX and mobile, but If you own NX you have the mobile functionality already
Nope, because that would mean a game that does not take advantage of the new hardware, or waiting forever while they create all assets from scratch.
I would rather have the U Zelda on Wii U AND the NX Zelda when it is ready, years later down the line. Like those people crying about WW when they saw the realistic trailer and then we also got TP years later. They do not have to exclude each other.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
Just an FYI, every home console zelda release since Twilight Princess was heavily panned by zelda fans upon launch.
What Zelda Fans Thought Of:
Majora's Mask: Only 3 DAYS TO SAVE THE WORLD?
Wind Waker: The cartoony graphics SUCK! And THE SAILING!!
Four Swords Adventures: Why do I have to spend so much on this game!!!
Twilight Princess: Wolf link SUCKS! The Graphics on the Wii version are AWFUL!
Skyward Sword: The game was too linear! The bird sucks! Fi is the WORST!
"I'll take a potato chip... AND EAT IT!"
Light Yagami, Death Note
"Ah, the Breakfast Club soundtrack! I can't wait 'til I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff!"

It's got to be delayed and released on NX at launch. Releasing it on the WiiU would be a complete waste.
Delaying it for two or three years to release on the NX (assuming it's a console) would be a waste. Zelda has never been a system seller anyway so one made to take advantage of the NX's hardware and gimmicks coming well after launch will be better than shoehorning Zelda U on the NX.

This, and also the fact that resources are already "wasted" making the game now for Wii U. Hell, they'd be wasting more resources porting over the darn thing to NX (whatever it is), and that's assuming (unlike the GameCube to Wii TP port) they're even similar hardware.

The delay of Zelda is a massive neon sign that reads, NX 2016 launch. Nintendo aren't showing Zelda at E3 for two reasons-- they want to maximize the media/fan hype with the graphical upscale and they want it to be playable on NX the first time it is demoed (cementing it as a NX title even if the WiiU version isn't cancelled).

Or, you know, it's delayed because it would be impossible to release a satisfactory product before 2016

Ask yourself, why elect to not show a game at E3 that the public has seen twice if you're not making massive changes?
Nintendo has done this with the majority of their console launches-- Zelda 3, Star Fox 2, Eternal Darkness, Dinosaur Planet, and Twilight Princess.
Ask yourself, why elect to not show a game at E3 that the public has seen twice if you're not making massive changes?
Because they want to focus on more imminent releases and it's not 2003 anymore. They can push out a lot of hype closer to release through Nintendo Directs and other kinds of marketing. Not everything has to build directly out of E3 anymore. Hell, look at what they've done with Splatoon recently. Or the fact that the Majora's Mask remake was announced a good few months after E3 and released a good few months before the next one.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
I think Zelda U will release on the Wii U first but get an NX port around its launch, that way Zelda fans don't have to wait too long for a next gen Zelda game.
