The topic of conversation should be "When will the next-generation begin?" Whether you think NX will replace the Wii U or 3DS, when will the respective "next-generation" begin? If it is a Wii U replacement, will the NX be released before/after Sony and Microsoft's next system? When will the first "next-generation" home system be released from any company? If it is a 3DS replacement, will it be released before the Vita 2? Will it even have competition from Sony or will it have to face off against Smart Phones? When will the "next-generation" portable system be released from any company? In short, when will the "next-generation" begin?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Compared to the so called other next gen the Wiiu is next Gen I have a Xboxone and Ps4 and they don't have any games to play on they I am beginning to believe next gen isn't fancy hardware its gameplay I have so many Wiiu games on order or waiting for them to be put on pre order it ridiculous, so Nintendo keep doing what you do I beleive in you wisdom.

Nintendo is the most likely to jumpstart the 9th generation race. They can't rush it out but they can't wait for the others too.
I'd wage we'll see NX replacing Wii U in 2017, Xbox Two in 2018 and PS5 in 2018/2019.
And this generation probably won't be as long-lasting as the 7th, which to me is a good thing. 5 to 6 years seem about right for a console lifecycle, more than that begins to feel stagnant.

I'm not even sure Microsoft and Sony will target 2018 for their 9th gen consoles. I don't think they're in a hurry to upgrade that soon because of high costs vs. low impact (they'll probably wait until they can perfect either VR or 4K), they'll probably target 2019 or 2020. The NX is probably going to have a few years on the other 9th gen consoles.

I feel with the ever increasing dev time for the big games, console lifecycles need to be longer. If a AAA game takes about 3 years to develop then you can get 1 maybe two out per console. We have seen ways that Publishers cut this time down by reusing assets (Assassin's Creed) or multiple teams (Call of Duty) but learning a console to produce one, maybe two games doesn't seem worth it anymore. It might have worked when teams were 50 people, but now we are seeing teams around 250. I think console lifespans need to be as long as last gen at least, maybe gradually getting longer.

The Gamepad is a failed mess of a controller. Just leave it be already.

We've already proven in another thread a long time ago that your opinion on the GamePad doesn't matter. Sorry to be blunt, but seriously, you hate the GamePad to hate the GamePad.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

Based on the release of the PS5 and Xbox series X/S, I'd say the next generation has already begun. I guess it's just a matter of time for Nintendo to catch up.
