Topic: What is one thing that would make you instantly pre-order an NX?

That it's a system with multiple form factors and one of those form factors is a handheld that keeps the N3DS XL design but is about as powerful as the Wii U.

After sticking my neck out for them with Wii U and ending up like this?

F-Zero NX, Metroid Prime 4, Super Mario Galaxy-esque game, Sin and Punishment, Paper Mario and an Earthbound remake or spin-off (and do release Mother 3 on the Wii U by then!).

Nothing short of a miracle. I'll be bidding my time.

good game prices
I'm almost becoming a PC gamer, 'cause it's dirt cheap.... if big N ever got even close to being that cheap I'd be the happiest gamer around.

As for what games I want to see, I'd want at least 3 of the following:

-A unique Mario collectathon game. Not Super Mario 3D NX, Not Super Mario Galaxy 3, an original collectathon game that pushes Mario in new direction and shows us the power of the NX.
-Metroid Prime 4
-A Pokemon RPG of some sort (could happen if the main series Pokemon games on handheld could be played on console)
-Splatoon
-New entries in platformers that aren't nostalgia fueled rehashes
-Just about anything innovative

Beside games, which we know we're eventually going to get, there are a few features that I'd really like to see, if the NX is the nx home console:

1) A built-in system to play 3DS cartridges IF you already have the GamePad. Because why not? If Super GB and GBA Player existed, this could exist too. And yeah, I know they'll plan to release VC 3DS games anyway, but at the rate of the DS VC on WiiU (approx 5 per year) which of the two is going to make them more money in the long run?! This stupid little feature could be a system seller in itself - who wouldn't buy it?
2) Physical and digital region free. Don't care if people say it's a non-issue. When I see the US eShop or the JP virtual console, it is an issue.
3) A built-in video editor system that lets you record, edit and upload your own playthrough, montages, trailers, clips etc. They are doing it to some extent but I'd like to see it expanded to all games, for the whole game's length. Of course would be useful for people who like youtube and stuff, but I can this feature used even by casuals. For example a father and children who want to make a montage of their best gaming moments of the year etc

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Two to three years before it launches. I bought the wiiu at launch with the expectation of a 5 year lifespan. If Nintendo shortens that I'm holding off for three years on the next console. Provided it is even a WiiU successor. I would likely be swayed if it had bc with the wiiu and used the gamepad though (apparently I'm one of 6 people in the world that happens to be quite fond of the controller).

At this point though if the next console isn't region free I'm going to hold off for a few years anyway. I buy a JPN console because I like the games on it but that money could have gone to more games if the systems weren't locked. (plus I'm sick of two boxes)

Do you mean Aksys?

And yeah, this much seems sort of likely anyway. Sony is unlikely to make a Vita successor, so a lot of the small to midsized Japanese publishers will probably hop ship over to Nintendo's machine.

The Wii U has 3 of those and you still refuse to buy one, so forgive me if I'm skeptical.

No it doesn't. The only thing on that list the Wii U has is Splatoon.

To be honest, I never quite understood the idea of people claiming all Nintendo does is create uninteresting nostalgia fueled rehashes, at least from my perspective. I'm only 16 years old and before the last couple of years the only Nintendo game I had really played was Pokemon and some Mario, and it actually isn't until recently that I began to delve deeper into their franchises. I personally found most of the games I had recently played (Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc...) to be unique and fun, even without any previous experience with them.

Mario RPG, Bayonetta 3, Fire Emblem or SMT game or something else that takes a while to play through. Maybe if the NX does something more than just games I'd jump on board immediately. But otherwise I usually wait a year or so.

It's best avoided. Claiming that the Wii U lacks innovation is just plain bizarre and should be ridiculed. What a strange universe that must be to live in.

Also, it can't be noted enough that Bolt_Strike has never played any of the games that he claims are rehashes.

I'd buy it on day 1 if it was a portable and had an interesting lineup of games.

If it's a handheld, it won't take anything at all. I'm always more than satisfied with Nintendo handhelds and the IP's I like to play on them are usually guaranteed. If it turns out I'm really disappointed with the build of the handheld itself though, then I may just wait until the mainline Pokemon game comes out to buy it.

If it's a home console, then I'm gonna need a mind blowing launch line up consisting of Animal Crossing, F-Zero, a Pokemon Stadium or Snap type of game, an Atlus RPG, a Platinum game, etc. to preorder because I never preorder consoles.

Handheld - I'll probably get it no matter what, especially if it has a really good launch game

Console - Virtual Console for all previous consoles (compatible with old console controllers, also) , a solid launch line up, and a good price because consoles can cost a lot sometimes.

Look at games like 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy and compare them with 3D Land and 3D World and you can see a clear difference in game design. Not in terms of one being exploration focused and one being linear platforming, but how the gameplay changes between games. Sunshine and Galaxy have unique themes and gameplay mechanics that build on 64's formula in interesting ways and create new experiences. 3D World, on the other hand, sticks with a generic Mushroom Kingdom theme (which technically isn't the Mushroom Kingdom but it is an expy with the same kinds of environments), and recycles 3D Land's gameplay, only really adding minor things like token powerups and co-op. We're seeing this kind of approach with a lot of their platformers (all of the NSMB games, 3D Land and 3D World, Tropical Freeze, Yoshi's New Island, both Kirby games, and even Yoshi's Woolly World is just a mashup of Yoshi's Island and Kirby's Epic Yarn). We're not seeing any attempts to modernize the gameplay, use the Gamepad in a meaningful way, or put some type of significant twist on the gameplay.

For the last time, I don't need to. The difference between rehashing and innovation is conceptual, if it's there you'll see it the very first time it's revealed. Or at the very least by watching a Youtube video. We knew that Galaxy was innovative because they showed its gravity mechanics. We knew that Splatoon was innovative because we saw the game play differently from anything we've seen before. They have to be able to market these features in order to convince people to buy it in the first place, it's not something that you have to play for yourself and then the Innovation Leprechaun pops out and magically reveals his magic to you.

Please stop using that buzzword "innovative". I'm allergic to bees. Also, you misuse that word terribly. I take it you're a product of the early 2000's. That word was misused back then about as frequently as reverse psychology and irony. Most games are "innovative" by the very definition of the word. Though the 2000's definition is some Shangri-La nonsense. Adding gravity mechanics was an innovation made to Mario Galaxy, but was not the central reason it was good. Someone with a Pokemon avatar should really not be bashing SM3DW for lacking this "Shangri-La" innovation you so desperately seek. The "Shangri-La" that is usually just a blanket excuse for a larger more personal problem.
