By the time the NX releases, we would have known it as the NX for much longer than any new names. So I'd vote to keep it called the NX, or at least have NX be the shortened version of the real name.
It does have a certain ring to it that i think works, so i'd go for yes. Or maybe call it the NeX, keeping in line with their tapping into the waive of NES nostalgia.
But console names are mostly irrelevant to me; as far as i'm concerned, whatever is the current Nintendo console is just "the Nintendo".
Most consumers don't even know or care about codenames for products. Until it flashes across their Facebook feeds as an actual product it more or less doesn't exist. So I don't think it really matters at all that it's been known as the NX for us. That's irreverent.
Also "NX" as a name isn't really that appealing. For a start it's kinda hard to pronounce in some languages. It also sounds like some sort of obscure piece of high end audio hardware or something. Not a good start.

There has been a fair bit of publicity on the BBC in the uk. Their E3 reports mentioned it on Radio 1 and BBC news also bought it up in a recent news peice about Nintendos value going up after pokemon go released. I think there had been a bit more hype around it than than the WII U ever had.
Hopefully we are all in for a treat when NX (love the name) is revealed
No. NX means nothing...unless they explain the name in a 20 minute featurette during the reveal (nobody wants that right?). We don't even know what the new concept is yet, so the name should reflect that. Sure the 'X' might be referencing cross in someway because that seems big in Japan but god knows lol.

The reason Sony and Microsoft need names like Xbox or PlayStation is because they make other stuff, like TVs or Windows.
Nintendo just make games so Nintendo is their catchy name.
So NX after the name works completely for me.
Its like a car ending in GTI or XR3I, that's how its reffered too in conversation.
Nintendo NX is a great name. I always felt from day one when we first heard about it that this should be the official name. It's a heck of a better name than Wii/Wii U.
