No way this is going to be more powerful then the PS4. Nintendo's pricing strategy is to be the cheapest console on the market.

The Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2 AND was cheaper, and it still lost.

Relevant but immaterial as that is still how Nintendo believes they can reach a customer base, as they were able to do with the Wii.

Which makes the launch of the Wii U particularly mysterious and ultimately a disaster in terms of how they failed to market the added value to the consumer.

I want to know where you get your insider info, I bet you have a family member that works at Nintendo.

Aw. I'm not getting it, then... Because I don't have a little sister.

God first.

It's sad knowing the NX will most likely be a disaster and not even appeal to the hardcore Nintendo fan. Is a Nintendo version of a PS4 so much to ask for?!

we know virtual nothing about it. I would find a "Nintendo version of a PS4" very disappointing however.

How in the world is a Nintendo version of a PS4 disappointing?! Actual 3rd party support? JRPGs support? Fast and powerful?! That's the ultimate Nintendo console to me!!!

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

3rd Parties would be nice, but JRPG support isn't a big deal for me and the Power of the system doesn't mean much when they aren't doing anything interesting with it. PS4 is basically the same as PS3 but with more power, and my PS3 hasn't gotten much use.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.

I was going to buy a NX until I found out it wont attack my sister with a flamethrower, will it attack her with something else though?

@Blast: A Nintendo version of a PS4 probably wouldn't sell well either.

That's not true. Nobody wants another Wii situation or a Wii U situation. I love both of them but they have problems.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Yet the PS4 is selling well for various good reasons. Come on, man.

There's already one PS4 clone on the market, and I could buy either one. What good does a Nintendo-made PS4 clone do me?

I don't see how that is relevant. I would still find it disappointing just as I have found the XB1 and PS4 disappointing this generation. with backwards compatibility the XB1 is more interesting than the PS4, in my opinion.

If Nintendo doesn't make a console as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox One, they are simply doing it wrong. Period.

The Wii U is powerful enough for me, personally. The NX could only be marginally more powerful than the Wii U and I would be happy, as long as there are games.

But it seems it will have to at least be a tiny bit more powerful than the PS4 and XBone to get 3rd parties interested, so it would probably be in their best interest to do that.

I'm with you on this generation being disappointing so far. The only game on my PS4 I've played that i felt was worth the upgrade was Bloodborne, but even that had its issues at the beginning. I think Nintendo just needs compelling games to compete, because even if it competed with PS4 in terms of power they would still need the great games to convince people to buy it, especially if they already own an Xbox One or PS4.

That would be awful. That would essentially mean Nintendo is rereleasing the Wii U and forcing you to buy the new version to play games that really could have worked on Wii U. That's ridiculously anti-consumer.

Unless you are assuming there would be another unique feature, in which case disregard my comment.

If the NX is replacing the Wii U, then it should have a good power jump and probably be around (if not above) the PS4 and Xbone specs. Anything less and I feel it would be pointless to be replacing the Wii U.

EDIT: I also don't think it is smart to replace the 3DS yet.

@iKhan Sorry for not being clear, but yes, this is under the assumption that Nintendo will have some other new feature that changes the way we play games.

And just to be crystal clear, I was talking about what would be enough to make me happy personally (I'm easy to please), not what would be best for the company, which is why I added the last paragraph about what actually WOULD be best for the company.

I'm honestly confused on "Ps4 power" being so relevant. Even a year and a half in, I'm pretty sure less than 15% of PS4 games needed PS4's power. 90% of games nowadays seem to be downloadable stuff that isn't that powerful.

I'm not saying it's irrelevant but considering people's apathy towards buying the typical AAA releases on a Nintendo console, why would Nintendo focus on that? What logical reason is there? It isn't like the Xbox One/PS4 market is the only one that exists in gaming. Even looking at the PC market (aka the place with the fans who love having powerful gaming rigs), I just checked Steam's top 10 games list, 7 are on the PS3, 1 Gary's Mod, 1 is an iOS looking thing and 1 is Witcher 3. So 1/10.
