Hey guys,

I am new around here. I wanted to give just a little clarification on what the Nintendo NX actually is, and insight on Nintendo's thought process. I can't reveal who I am, but if you follow the logic down the path it will lead to this conclusion.

Nintendo's NX isn't one device. It isn't even a device. It's a gaming platform. It will only be on Nintendo hardware. March 2017 is when a new handheld will be released, that will have Nintendo NX on it. What this handheld is I don't have access to. I just helped with the OS and the coding. They will probably release a new home console in 2017 too, but we don't have a release date on that yet.

I know it's hard to accept, but think about it. Nintendo merged their mobile and home console development teams together. They know that the problems that plagued the 3DS early on and the Wii U was lack of games. They aren't big enough and don't have the teams in place to fully support two systems. So they wanted to make a new platform that will allow them to make one version of the game and it can be released on multiple devices. Think Microsoft Office, and how it works on Windowa mobile and Windows 10.

Now how they accomplish this was a feat that I helped them with. But now that it's finished, Nintendo's game flow problems will be fixed with the next round of devices (yes, that's plural). There was talk to bring the NX to the Wii U, but I am not sure if that went beyond talk.

I hope this gives you guys a glimpse on what they are planning.

@fallax: A) I don't believe you. B) how is a game that needs Home Console power suppose to run on a portable system? As you said, "So they wanted to make a new platform that will allow them to make one version of the game and it can be released on multiple devices." What is the point of having multiple devices if 1 devices can run it all?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
