Regardless if its both a portable and home console or just a home console...when do you personally think the HOME CONSOLE will come out? Late 2016, late 2017, or?

I really hope they don't stagger the releases, and that they both drop this year. If not, it's more time to enjoy 3DS and Wii U stuff, but I think most people are ready for the new stuff.

I don't think the general market is ready fo a new Home Console. People are settling in to their current systems. Next year would make more sense for a Home Console in my opinion. Handheld can be released whenever at this point. 3DS has been out for long enough and the Vita... is the Vita, so a new Handheld can be whenever.

Also a micro console could release whenever. It wouldn't have to directly compete with the PS4 and depending on how they market it. If the micro console is a campaion console to the next handheld and home console, it should probably be released first lol.

I hope that the NX isn't a dual system, because that would mean:
1. Splitting the market into two groups (People who prefer the home features and people who enjoy the handheld convenience)
2. It would be way more expensive (Unless of course Nintendo decides to sell the portable and home parts of the console separately [with a bundle of both])
3. Games would have to be made with the features of both in mind

Yeah, staggering the releases would be very bad for marketing, especially if they're trying to promote functionality between the two environments. How bad would it look if they went through all of the trouble to make a hybrid environment and then said you had to wait a year to fully take advantage of it? I can guarantee you that sales would be extremely low in that first year as people wait until they can buy the console. Not only that, but it may turn off console fans altogether who might feel like Nintendo is treating the console market as an afterthought. They have to treat the handheld and home console market as equals if this is the route they're going. So the only release schedule that makes sense to me is to have them both launch by Holiday 2016. They can spread them apart by a month or two, but no longer than that and they both should be out by November.

Gotta agree. Though a micro console would be very strange and, to me, unnecessary. But whatever lol

Hope it's this year, though. Nintendo needs eyes on them again.

well the Micro Console would be strange. It would be different and it would change the way we think of a console and the market. It would be a game changer and not fall into line with how we think a normal console works.

Micro consoles were considered "strange" over a year or whatever ago when another company tried their hand at it. It was called the Ouya. And it's dead. Never even had a chance, really. This magical market of people who do their gaming on a PS4/Xbox One quite happily but would spring for a "micro," pared-down version of what they are already doing? That market doesn't exist. And the Ouya demonstrated that, no, just because tons of people play Candy Crush on their Android doesn't mean a little box hooked up to their big HDTV that can play Candy Crush is going to sell.

Now is not the time for a micro console. The PS4 is showing the world that people are still very much cool with traditional home consoles. Remember all of those analysts predicting "the last console generation" and bad sales for PS4/Xbox One? Where are those people now? We're already getting speculation about PS5! Gone is the notion of "the last console generation." Didn't take long.

The public has already voted with their wallets in the endeavor of the micro console. I really hope Nintendo is not foolish enough to go that route. A decent Virtual Console on a "regular" home console can do everything you want from a micro while not being limited on the upper end.

@rallydefault: A console that only plays games designed for a Smart Phone or Tablet would not be smart. You are correct about that. That is why my Micro Console isn't that.

@Whitewatermoose: One thing that keeps circulating through my head when people bring up these ideas, the 3DS and Wii U GamePad Battery Life. Twice yesterday I had to stop playing Splatoon to charge my GamePad, and if you add in the portable aspect, then how dead would my battery be from being at work for 8 hours, playing a game on my lunch and maybe if I show up early, then coming home and trying to play a game. Nintendo needs to heavily invest in battery life with their next systems. I want to be able to play when I want to, not having to wait for my device to charge.

I moved a few months ago and the charges can no longer be out in the open and used while playing because cats will/have destroyed the cords. That use to be my solution but it doesn't work anymore

@Whitewatermoose: yeah but I can't use it on Splatoon, and it doesn't power a screen.

@Whitewatermoose: Is it on par with the PS3 Controller's 20-30 hour battery life?
Or are you talking nintendo consoles specifically?

@MrMario02: I heard the Pro Controller battery life is over 50 hours... but I don't own one so I can't confirm.
