We currently get two types of Mario games - 2D (New Super Mario Bros) and 3D (Super Mario 3D world, Galaxy).
We get two types of Zelda games - open world 3D games (Skyward Sword, BotW) and top down (Minish Cap, Link between worlds).
What other franchises do you think Nintendo could get away with publishing two different styles of games for? Personally I'd like to see them return to making old-school Metroid-Vania style Metroid games along with either Prime-style first person shooter games, or open world BotW style Metroid games.
Metroid should have both the Classic 2D games and the 3D Prime games. Beyond that, it's uncharted territory, no other IP has two different styles. The only other candidates I can see are other platformers, DK, Yoshi, and Kirby. Retro is supposedly interested in a 3D DK game, perhaps that can develop into a separate style. I wouldn't mind something more in the direction of a 3D platformer/beat em up, that would fit DK pretty well IMO.
I'm yet to play Other M but I hear it's pretty good. Not sure how well received it was by the fans at the time but it might make a good format for 3DS.
In terms of what would interest me...it's a bit obscure, but, I'd say top-down Pandora's Tower?

You're forgetting Star Fox, which has both the space shooter, and the action adventure (Star Fox Adventures). Oh! And Kid Icarus, as it use to be a platformer and it's most recent title was a smup.

Those two IPs don't get two styles published at once though, in fact they're lucky to even get one.
