I don't get this thread... Um it looks like people are placing portable gaming into the world of console gaming... For example, when would we ever get Titanfall or GTA5 on any portable device and still have it look like it does? Even the best tablet would have issues... Just based on file size.

Not really given that you'd just store those patches on the system storage. The same way it's done already. When a Wii U game gets a patch that patch is saved either to internal storage or to the HDD. When a 3DS game gets a patch that patch is saved to the SD card. It wouldn't make any difference.

Because people are talking about how practical it would be to use cartridges for a home console. The only cartridges that exist today in the form that they did back in the 90s are on portable devices like the 3DS. That's the only reason why it's being used as a comparison. And if the size trend for cartridges on portables keeps going the way it is? Next gen portables could have 32GB cartridges. And 32GB is almost big enough that you could use them for a home console. Almost.
