I live in one of, if not the biggest and most popular horse areas in the world, yet I've only managed to locate a single Ponyta since the games release. I call cheats.
So I noticed as I'm sure many of you have. The color of the circle changes when you switch pokeballs. I tried catching a squirtle who's color would not change from red whatsoever regardless of whether or not I had a great or ultraball out. I used a razzberry and threw an ultraball. broke out on the 1st shake and ran immediately. I am convinced to not waste any ultra/great balls on those kind of pokemon.

On my way home from work found a Slowbro with cp 937. That's my highest so far. Just reached level 14 today. Hate it when I still find Pokemon with 10cp.
Normally, with my non-4G device (iPod touch), and not having the opportunity to go elsewhere, I've been restricted to catching Pokemon at my place of work. But today, I happened to be able to go into town, and I found a nice spot where I caught a Bellsprout, 5 Drowsees, a Ghastly and a Zubat.
I'm on the cusp of level 5, but I did get my first egg - my question is, without a persistent connection, am I able to hatch it? I put my iPod into sleep mode, and went on my way, but the egg didn't seem to show any progress - also, when I checked, because I wasn't connected to a network, I couldn't tap any of the buttons anyway. I've heard the app needs to be running, but does the iPod need to 'awake' (or lit up)?
@edhe the app and your device has to be on, so your eggs won't hatch if your iPod is turned off. It doesn't matter what brightness you're on, though, so you can still save battery. Plus, I don't think your progress is tracked during the period when you are not on a network, however I'm not entirely sure.
Had something weird happen on Pokemon go. Was sorting out my Pokemon to see what ones to transfer & I had 2 meowths next to each other then one of them moved down to the next row & when I scrolled back up I had a Doduo appear but I haven't even caught one yet & it had 21 candies with it. Was really confused as to how I got this Pokemon without catching it then my egg started to hatch & it was the same Doduo. So I had the Pokemon before it hatched, how weird. Anyone else had this happen?
@Starz it may have been a network delay. I've had the game do the animations before registering things properly. I've also had the game hatch a few eggs in incubators as a it updated itself from an older version to a newer one. I just had the pokemon and the incubators were free but no hatching animation whatsoever.
