I really don't understand how a racing game on a phone could work. Someone suggested to me using tilt controls, but that just sounds bad to me. More so considering the variety of phones, I don't think they'd all be able to run it.

Okay, best case scenario, a premium game like Super Mario Run in that it's not hiding behind a paywall, pay one and done, and you get a multiplayer focused polished kart racer with bluetooth gamepad support. Bonus points if Nintendo puts some firmware in the app to help connect joycon without that nasty input lag. That's really the only way I could see this being awesome, racing games on mobile are horrible with touch control and tilt. Sonic All-Stars managed okay, but it would have been amazing with bluetooth support. Unlockables like new karts, characters, tracks and maybe even custom paints unlocked through in-game currency won through races or My Nintendo.
Worst case scenario we get a 'racing manager' game where instead of being in the race you manage one of the characters garages spending coins on upgrades to the karts and power ups that the AI driver may or may not use appropriately. Think Grand Prix Story on the app store.
The fact that the name includes the word 'Tour' can add all kinds of speculation, one that right now I am assuming is connected to a heavy emphasis on regional online multiplayer, though I also hope a local 'wifi' option is also available if you have friends nearby who want to race. Connectivity of some sort to MK8D would also be a welcome sight.
I love jokes that imply that ponies use the internet.

I'm personally excited to have a Mario Kart to play anywhere at anytime.... Since I'm afraid of dropping my switch on the hard floor. Unless of course, it consumes cellular data like I do pizza. :/
