Topic: Magikarp Jump (with a 'k', there, I fixed it, lol)

NA version is out (and everywhere else I'm assuming).

.....yeah yeah I just noticed when trying to look it up in the store. Also, Magikarp sucks so I never use him in the main games. xD

Oh wow this game is really not what I was expecting.

I figured it would be a "tap to jump" runner-kinda thing, but instead it is a collect them all pet sim with pseudo rpg elements.

Close to no interactivity, just menus and options.

It's fun for what it is, though.

@Meowpheel Putting "Jump" in the title certainly would seem to imply gameplay that actually involves jumping. Not great marketing really.

Eh, I'd prefer this over a tapathon anyways. lol

Too bad there's no actual strategy. It's literally tapping berries until you've maxed out your Magikarp, see how for you can get in the league and repeat.

I guess you could say there's some strategy to growing the karps.

Grow too fast and you'll be retiring them too soon, meaning you'll have to start over with a new fish.

If you lose a "battle", then you'll know exactly how high you need to jump to win next time.

You could challenge yourself to beat the leagues in as few karps as possible.

I mean, when they do retire you get plenty of exp and will likely level up anyways...so yeah. Octane pretty much says it all, still fun though.

@Meowpheel There's no point in keeping its level down though. The higher it is, the further you get in the league. And once you max out its level, you still get a chance to get as far in the league as possible.

Just giving ideas.

Just started playing this game. I didn't realize until after I loaded it up that it's by the same company that made Hunt Cook, which is one of my favourite games on mobile. While I think Hunt Cook is a better game, there's more to this Magikarp game than I thought and I'll use it for a bit. I'm on the 2nd generation now, with a calico magikarp named Buddy.

I had 2 who got snatched by Pidgeotto, and 1 who got literally blown up by a Voltorb. I shall miss you, Darnell, Claire, and Claire Jr. If one dies, I always name the next one the same with Jr. after it, so yes, two Magikarps died right after the other

Dead Magikarp count towards your achievements, so I always grab those Poke Balls and pears #livingontheedge

But...I wanna make progress with the leagues and unlock more stuff. lol

My cute little Eric died today, it was snagged by a Pidgeotto

Thankfully I had only just got him, so I hadn't become too attached to him just yet, but still :c

Edit: The next one, who was called Fred, also met a horrible fate involving a Voltorb.

I've now fished up a golden Magikarp called Ginny, and I'm going to make absolutely sure that this one doesn't die.

After losing both Magikalico and Karpe to pidgeottos... In like five minutes... I now have a shiny Magikarp.

I bet it's not that rare, but it's still nice.

I just got a 3rd gold one, starting to get annoying now, lol
