@Octane yeahhh anything that uses dungeon keeper monetization mechanics is a big fat no from me as well. Honestly, I'd prefer a gacha type system. I find the idea of paying for the luxury of speeding the game up to be completely abhorrent. I'm sad Nintendo used this model.

I played for some time today and I gotta say that it's better than I expected. Collecting items almost always pays off and there's consantly some new stuff to do. It might not be good to play it for three hours straight, but pop in for quick bursts to complete missions. I actually like it because it works perfectly for situations when you don't have much time. I got my character to level 2 and unlocked some furniture along with fences, so if it keeps up, there will be too much stuff to collect and not enough time to get it.
Some times are actually more generous than in console games from what I remember. Fruits and fish recover quickly.

I'm enjoying it so far, I'm level 7 and have just finished my 2nd house upgrade. It's going to take a long time to attract new villagers to my campsite! At first they were reasonable but now they want 3 or 4 items each and they take a long time to craft.

It's a shame that I'll have to redo this when it releases in the UK but it's worth it so that I can save my progress. I'm not wanting to restart every time I change phone.
And what I found out from Mario Run is that saves transfer from iOS to Android which is a nice feature, some other games don't do the same.

I seem to be invisible here, or maybe just ignored? Who knows...

I actually really like the game so far. It's definitely similar to the freemium city builder type mobile games, except it's actually fun. There's a good amount of things to do while you wait for upgrades, like going fishing, bug catching, or building friendships. It still keeps the Animal Crossing charm and doesn't come across as a cash grab game too much, besides maybe the limited items. It's the kind of game that I'll open up every morning and grab some fruit, complete some requests, and start some construction projects. It seems to have more longevity than their other mobile games.

My Switch username is Cynas. If you know which game that name comes from without looking it up then I'm very proud of you.

I think not even the limited items (for now) are going to feel cheap tbh. They run for 40ish days and it should be possible to get that many leaf tickets by then me thinks. I already nabbed Nook, and am back to 115 tickets (I did use one to speed up an order with Cyrus, but you get 10 tickets back for doing that so...it's math, really )
I'm seeing KK as a longterm goal for my camp, and I think it's gonna feel like I earned having him sit on his ass at my place XD

I really like how "legit" the side distractions feel as well. It's basically Animal Crossing lite and you get the same kind of interactions with villagers as you would in New Leaf. It's obviously not going to be as much due to stuff like the animals not having houses alone, but it doesn't need to be more than it is, considering just doing those requests already feels like a pretty "complete" mobile experience of its own.

Really, if you enjoy Animal Crossing, you'll enjoy the app and vice versa. It should be a great introduction for people who've never played the games and it's actually a pretty fun "side project" for those of us who sink unhealthy amounts of time in the likes of New Leaf and Wild World

It may sound weird but playing Pocket Camp has me really excited for the possibilities and new additions that might come with an Animal Crossing game on the Switch. The app is great.

AC Lite was the best I dared hope for. Sounds like we got exactly that. Now late November can't come soon enough...

I remember when Canada often got soft launches for some games (I was playing FF Record Keeper for like, a month before it was fully live). I wish we got one for this.

3 hours is short compared to the main games, too.

This game is very fun so far! Still deciding on what items I should purchase for my campsite.

When it said that the game is coming to mobile, does that include tablets too?

Dpullam

DarthNocturnal

@Dpullam

99% of the time, yes. That'd be cutting out a LOT of potential customers if tablets weren't allowed.

I do know of a few games that are are actually tablet exclusive (a few card games, mostly). Otherwise? Everything is fair game.

Friggin epic then! I want to keep my phone away from games due to space limitations. I am going to get me a tablet for this game and Hearthstone then. By the way, do you happen to know if you can transfer saves from one device to another?

Dpullam

DarthNocturnal

@Dpullam

That depends on the game and the device. I believe Nintendo's games actually allow for iOS and Android cross-saving via a Nintendo account (most are restricted to the OS you create the save on). And I would think that Hearthstone would be the same, since it uses a Battle.net account.

Well... I guess we're looking at next week for a release? They can't be cruel enough to save it for the absolute tail-end of the month...

Well, looks like NLife was off by one day. Something to look forward to on Wednesday.
