It was announced today that both Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing will be receiving mobile releases.

So long as they're actual games, with limited microtransactions I'm all for it, as Animal Crossing is a perfect fit for mobile.

I am not sure what type of gameplay this can be, so i am going to say a orb launcher match type of a game (like bust-a-move)lol.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If the AC app/game will have some kind of conectivity with a "real' Animal Crossing... Does that mean AC WiiU/NX confirmed?

I think the connectivity will just be earning money in the app, for the main game, or unlocking exclusive furniture. I don't expect anything too massive.

Yeah but, what main game? I don't think it's New Leaf because, you know, it's kinda old.

I want a new Animal Crossing game, but I just don't know where. Wii U is on its way out, from the looks of things. NX is too far away. 3DS already has a couple Animal Crossing game, but I guess they could get updates.

It probably connects to amiibo festival and just lets you unlock things faster.

I've always thought that Animal Crossing is a series that would work perfectly on mobile.

Much of the series' core gameplay could be realized with minimal effort. No joystick to move around? Just open the Map and tap on where you wanna go (Nook's Shop, Museum, Seaside, etc.). Decorating your home, gardening (think of Harvest Moon Seeds of Memories), fishing, having a talk with the other villagers – all things that would work just as you'd expect.

There are things that would require some creativity though. Catching bugs or digging up fossils, given their random locations not fixed to a certain place that you could go to via the Map, wouldn't work that way on a joystick-less device due to the hampered ability to move and discover. But I've got an idea for this. Think of randomly triggered minigames where you have the chance to catch that Monarch Butterfly floating over the screen or digging up that Stego Torso buried in the ground within a limited amount (10-20 seconds) of time. Catching bugs and digging up fossils (and fishing for that matter) has always been one of my favorite activities in Animal Crossing and I'd find this an exciting and challenging new way to do this.

Animal Crossing Mobile will show if Nintendo truly wants to create the best mobile game possible or if they don't shy away from deliberately making a trimmed-down spin-off to minimize impact on their dedicated hardware systems. I'm afraid it's the latter and would be thrilled to get proven wrong.

I imagine this will be likely fully revealed this month during the annual Nintendo late August info dump.
