So wait. You're telling me Twilight Princess will be available for 3 generations in a row? Couldn't they give it a rest for one generation before remaking it? This feels too soon.

Well the Wii and GC versions did release on the same day..... and it has been 9 years....

as a side note, I like how my very bad set of predictions on the first page happens to be the most popular theory at this point. How's that for a turn of events? I bet it turns out it's nothing even remotely along those lines now. Just to rub it in

You can play Twilight Princess on your Wii U via backwards compatibility. HD remakes for Wii U should only go to games that can not be played via backwards compatibility!

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Seems like a bit of an arbitrary measure to me. Especially given that technically speaking the only console the Wii U isn't "backwards compatible" with is the Gamecube. Look at it this way, was the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii a bad thing? No? Well it's the same thing.

Technically talking, the Wii U is backward compatible with Gamecube games, using the Wii mode. So they would work like current Wii eShop games. I don't know why Nintendo didn't release any Gamecube game so far, I am wondering if they have trouble with the emulation of the memory card or with the support of the GCN controller adapter for the Wii U.

To be fair I would have much preferred an HD remaster of Trilogy than just a Wii Port.

@Operative: agreed. Iwata would want it. Iwata or no iwata the show must go on.

Didn't they make Wind Waker HD in like six months? I could easily see Twilight Princess HD being made in response to Zelda U's delay and Nintendo's lackluster holiday slate.

Doesn't mean I entirely believe it's that (it could just be a re-release of the Wii version) but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

I think the thing with WW was that the game uses relatively few textures, many characters and things use solid colors and the textures present are already pretty simple... So it's easier and faster to port to HD.

TP is much more reliant on textures, so they'd have to work a lot on them.

Maybe.

I don't know, apparently they had been experimenting with remastering Twilight Princess (and Skyward Sword) before doing Wind Waker HD, so they may already have a solid foundation to go off of. We'll see.

@cookiex: The Wind Waker used the same models from the original game, the textures are simple and were updated to a higher resolution. Everything is pretty much the same, except for a couple of changes to the game itself. Twilight Princess needs a lot more work than a texture update. The models themselves need an update as well. Since WW used a very cartoony art style, there was a lot of leeway. When you're talking about a more realistic art style, everything that looks a little off will immediately catch your attention. It's going to take a lot more work than Wind Waker HD.

@Morpheel: All the models are actually the same. Nothing has changed in that aspect. Example: https://timenerdworld.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/wind-waker-...

Running the original Wind Waker through an emulator on 1080p already gives beautiful results: http://www.pelaajanvalinta.fi/WebRoot/PV/Shops/tamsi/4CA4/6E3...

Compare to the HD version: http://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1146/11469234/241...

It's all done by clever tricks using lighting, bloom and various other effects to make it look like a completely different game. Most of the models were pretty high in quality in the original game. Since the game has a pretty low resolution, it's quite difficult to see though.

It's probably just new animal crossing costumes. Moving on.

Oh interesting. It's kinda like how Animal Crossing Wild World actually comes with good textures and models, you just can't notice it because of the resolution.

If you're trying to make a snarky comment, it isn't working. The models look a lot better when the resolution is upped to 1080p, and apparantly good enough to still look acceptable in a 2013 HD game.

Eel

I... Wasn't.

Wild World does look nice when people run it on their computers with a better resolution. Almost as good as City Folk.

Zelda Twilight Princess HD has been registered on Nintendo Update Servers. The game is real, and no, it is not a Wii VC title (though Super Paper Mario, Metroid Other M, and Zelda Skyward Sword have been listed for those, as well as a listing for Super Mario Galaxy for Europe).

Also, no, TP HD is not the news RogersBase was teasing.

Gimme proof that TP HD is not the news Rogersbase was teasing. Show proof of him clearly saying TP HD was not the tease.
