To be fair, from the guys own tweets he was asked whether it was the results of the Smash Ballot. He responded:
"Really? In what world would that not be a 10 on the hype scale?"

Fair to say that it's probably not something as big as the NX. Surely that would be "more hype" than the results of the Smash Ballot. Well, they would be for me at least. I think we can probably also rule out stuff like Metroid or any of the other things that would be E3 megaton levels of hype. I think it's probably also fair to rule out stuff like Animal Crossing and F-Zero for similar reasons.

So given that I think it's probably something along the lines of the first mobile game. Possibly the revival of a mid-tier series like Punch-Out, Rhythm Heaven or Mario Strikers. Or it could be some nice DLC for a game like Mario Maker. Another remake of something from ten or more years ago. Really, I think the absolute most this could be is something like an announcement that we're getting a game like Twilight Princess HD by mid-2016. But it could be and probably is a hell of a lot less hype than that.

Ah... Good ol' Rogersbase. He's very credible. I bet the news is a new game.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

My guess is that there will be an announcement of the next Nintendo Direct. I'm guessing his source is someone he knows from NoA and NX news seems way too early and possibly confidential (Nintendo said they wouldn't announce any details until next year, probably E3 I think), the smartphone game doesn't sound like it would be that exciting, but 1 is supposed to come out this year so it's possible. I think for a game it would have to be a new one and not just some localized one, I'm not sure how much info someone at NoA would know about a new game that isn't announced yet, but I certainly wouldn't write it off.

Also it's been forever since a Direct (although one would probably be rated 10 so I'm kind of leaning towards a new game now).

I'd welcome that. Although if they did that, I bet they'd go with 3DS instead cos it'd mean no need for new assets.

How did me saying "Cool Nintendo news coming in the next two weeks" explode into the insanity that people are tweeting me?

I agree with @yokokazuo, I read that as a confirmation of a Nintendo Direct (or whatever they will call it without Iwata being around anymore) more than anything else. There has been similar "leaks" appearing before for earlier Nintendo Directs, from equally credible sources.

And it's more likely that Rogersbase knows about the existence of an upcoming Nintendo Direct than its content.

Incidentally, 2 weeks from now = one month before the November 20 releases. One month before the Super Smash U was released last year, the 50 Fact Extravaganza Direct aired.

The problem is that the 3DS would be quite a stretch. They'd virtually have to build it from the ground up and to a lot of optimisation. Especially if they want a decent framerate with 3D on. The Wii U? I don't think getting it to run well would be much of an issue at all. The trick would be cleaning everything up, improving the resolution of the textures and so on. Stuff they're already doing for a different Wii U Zelda anyways.

.... just a theory though, even if it is the 30th Anniversary of Zelda next year.

Late

I knew from the title of this topic that it's about RogersBase since I follow him on Twitter. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what it's all about. I'm hoping for a Nintendo Direct since we haven't had one for quite a while but I'm fine with any kind of Nintendo news.

It's its, not it's.

Are you suggesting they'd use the textures they've created for their most anticipated game on an HD port? Really can't see that happening. If they did, it'd be AFTER the new Zelda. There'd be nothing worse than waiting 4 years for a Zelda game and then every location looking eerily familiar.

No, I'm saying that they're probably done quite a lot of experimenting with HD visuals for the Wii U Zelda. The Zelda demo was one experiment that we were shown. Wind Waker HD was the end result of another. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was at least a little bit of experimentation with Twilight Princess on the Wii U. It only makes sense. I doubt they'd do anything along those lines for the 3DS unless they were committed to a 3DS port. Less likely.

Whether or not that ends up being a game or not is an entirely different question. But as I said, a bit of hype, 30th Anniversary of Zelda. Stranger things have happened.

I'm guessing either a direct or the mobile game. Hopefully direct.

Rogersbase wouldn't get hyped over a dang mobile game, guys.

@Blast: Hopefully a direct. This place really needs some new stuff to talk about, especially on the positive side.

Pikmin 4 footage ... on the Wii U. Not the mobile game.

My guess would be the new Club Nintendo thing, it's something that needs to be shown soon.

I read that differently, like that his definition of 9/10 is different than everyone else's, and that it's something not as big. It could be something we've already learned since, such as Skull Kid being a playable Hyrule Warriors character, or Super Meat Boy coming to Wii U.

Got married.

@arronishere: Many things need to be shown or talked about. Not the NX, though, so people saying it's something about the NX need to keep their hopes down.
