Yeah that's my thing. hate to sound like a broken record but they literally have no mindshare, momentum, or positive energy atm. But we should be getting info by month's end.
It's also clear that main resources are being moved to NX. This is obvious.

Don't you guys have any level of understanding? They just lost their beloved leader and they are doing changes obviously. We are seeing all that but can't we just feel the struggle they have to go? They are people like us and as experts as they are compared to us, they can only do so much. Give them a break already. Have pity dammit! >:'<
Similar to Markiplier and a few other channels after the tragic death of Daniel Kyre, there won't be much of anything for a while.
People are still in grief and they're working to getting back on pace. So just be patient.
This next Direct also has a lot of expectations. It is going to define the new series of Directs while still honoring Iwata. It will be difficult to pull off and so they need more time to figure out how to do it correctly.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Why on Earth are Nintendo fans being so impatient???? Go play a game.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
Iwata's passing has left Nintendo in a very vulnerable postition right now. He was probably spearheading a lot of projects and now that he's gone, they need time to assess all these loose ends and figure out what they're going to do next.
To be honest I find it shocking that some of you don't understand this!
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Hopefully they can rebound next year. NX whenever it launches has to come out swinging. 2016 is likely the last year of Nintendo games for Wii U and 3DS.

I would get news only from Nintendo Power and going to Target to check out the game section. I actually remember a time when I saw Nintendo games I never heard of until I walked into the store

Heh I was born in the mid-80's, so I remember. But Nintendo Power was at least monthly when it was around. Been more than a couple months since anything substantial here...

It doesn't have to define anything. It can be totally standalone if they want it to.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

That isn't what people will be expecting and it isn't what people will be talking about after it. To meet people's expectations the next Direct is important.

@DefHalan: The expectations are due to the hype/info drought and people wanting them to make up for the bad E3 presentation, not anything related to Iwata.
@IceClimbers: I think there are expectations to see how Directs will function without Iwata. Iwata was a big part of Directs and the next Direct is going to have to show that they can keep going without him. That isn't where all the expectations are but there are expectations there.

If you really look at things, Nintendo hasn't done much differently these past few months from what they've done during the same period in the last few years. Anything post-E3 and pre-fourth quarter is about titles coming in the short term i.e this year, which makes some sense since anything long-term would have already been covered at E3. Even then, deeper info on the big holiday titles tend to take a backseat until around now as well,. Anyone who wanted 2016 news or big new game announcements wouldn't have gotten them back in August/September anyway because that's not how Nintendo does things.
This wouldn't have been too much of an issue any other year, but the current short-term offerings aren't really grabbing people's attention, save maybe Xenoblade and Yoshi if you live in the Americas, so I can understand why people are getting frustrated with Nintendo following the usual routine when what they currently have on the table isn't engaging their audience (and 2016 does look iffy right now too).
Of course Iwata's death probably shook things up at the company and with bigger things going on that need to be kept behind closed doors for now (most notably NX) they may have been reluctant to do anything major lately. That said, previous years would indicate that we are moving into that timeframe where Nintendo starts talking about 2016 and announce major new titles, so I'd be surprised if something doesn't happen this month, even ignoring the current rumors.
I'm guessing it's because there's not a huge amount being released at the moment. Also, most unannounced projects will likely be for the NX, so they'll want to be quiet about these until the NX is officially revealed.

They just had a new game release on 3DS and they have two Wii U games over the next two weeks. They have plenty to talk about.
