Uhm, i realize we're only talking about the Mushroom Kingdom, but let's not forget that apparently there are more than 1 kingdom as SMB 3 has taught us. Perhaps Peach most likely rules the Mushroom World, or (in place of, presumedly) her father (I could very easily be wrong about this, as I'm uncertain whether or not it was ever really clearfied who does rule the Mushroom World.). As for the Shyguys, well I really have idea why they wear masks, but we know they originate from the land of Subcon, remember SMB 2?

That is true and i think peach is the symbol of rule for the kingdom but toadsworth is the real ruler since it's the mushroom kingdom. Plus she gets kidnapped a lot so someone has to be there to keep order. Now what about super princess peach it is a good game but if peach can destroy people like that how is she always kidnapped.

If bowser was smart he would make mario walk through hallway that roof in about an inch above his head and send his minions that way.

Currently playing: Fire Emblem: Awakening.
Current backlog: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (part way through) and the Unfinished Swan (unplayed).

Mushroom World must be a big planet even bigger than Earth, and that would make it a "Super Earth." Considering all the different game worlds throughout the Mario games, Mushroom World consists of: Mushroom Kingdom, Subcon (an alternate dimension because it's only in dreams), Grass Land, Desert Hill, Ocean Side, Big Island, The Sky, Iced Land, Pipe Maze, Dark Land or Bowser's Kingdom, Dinosaur Land, the painting worlds from Super Mario 64, Isle Delfino, the many galaxies near Mushroom World, the lands in NSMBU, all the worlds in the Paper Mario series, the Beanbean Kingdom, and many other lands that would make this post too long.

Even though they're from separate franchises, I strongly believe Donkey Kong Island from Donkey Kong Country and Diamond City from WarioWare are located on Mushroom World.

I don't nnecesserily belive subcon actually plays any real significant role in contrast with the Mushroom World, though, because I don't know how many people know this.....but SMB2 isn't exactly a true Mario sequel; It's basically a tweaked down clone ported from the game Doki Doki Panic for for the Faicom, with a slightly altered plot from that game because The Lost Worlds is just too simplisticallly alike SMB, story included. As to whether or not Subcon was real, I seem to recall the instruction manuals telling us how Mario awakens from his dream, pickning with friends and tells them about it (The game itself briefs us a little bit of this as well), and sometime shortly from then an actual door to Subcon opens somehow, to their suprise. Donkey Kong....Ehh I'm fairly certain he's not from the Msuhroom Kingdom because Rare is in fact his true developer, and Wario we don't really know much about.

So? That doesn't prove that DK does not live somewhere in the Mushroom World. Rare or not, DK is still a Nintendo character so to speak; and he shows up in tons of Mario games.

Funny thing is DK is older than the Mushroom Kingdom :P

That's true; though the DK we know today was DK Jr. back in the day, I think. Maybe he moved in at some point...?

Oh, man, the confusion over who is Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong is another story entirely.

And as far as Wario goes, remember that in the first Wario Land that Captain Syrup stole a golden statue of Princess Toadstool or Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom and took it to Kitchen Island, so the Wario Land games do take place on Mushroom World. Wario also invaded the Mushroom Kingdom in Wario's Woods to rule some woods by hypnotizing the creatures there, and Toad had to stop him.

I think DK island is on Earth, all of the creatures except the Tikis are actual animals.

Sorry, but there's real animals in the Mushroom World. There's fish, rabbits, insects, whales, penguins, bats, ostriches, lions, walruses, and so on. Not all of the animals are turtles, living mushrooms, and magical creatures, you know.

@DestinyMan What I was trying to say was that, while the Mushroom Kingdom is home to many animal species, DK Island mainly has only real animals. They might also be connected somehow. I think that Donkey Kong (Gameboy) might take place in the lands "in between" the Mushroom Kingdom and the real world, there are some fictional creatures but mostly animals.

Maybe Peach's castle is the completed construction site from the original donkey kong. :P

I always figured the Banjo Kazzoie islands were on the opposite side of the mushroom planet from the mushroom kingdom with dk island being halfway between the two.

I don't think so, I'm pretty sure it was that plane thing. :|
and where is planet shroob in relation to the mushroom kingdom? It's nonexistent in mario galaxy, yet I guess it's just too far away?
Come to think of it, where the heck is the bean bean kingdom? D:

Yeah I was hoping for the shroob planet to appear in SMG2.
The Beanbean kingdom I think is a little bit south from the areas explored in NSMBU (you can see princess peach's castle in the background of Hoohoo mountain I believe)
