I'm just going to sitt back and enjoy the war on every website this is posted on.

In all seriusnes though i really liked Other M and if they could fix some of the problems the game had i wouldn't mind them making another one. Although that is all up to Sakamoto.

If it's 2D, it'll be great.

If's it's 3D, it'll instantly become shovelware.

If Shigeru Miyamoto looked over it instead of Sakamoto, I'd be fine.
As ironic as it is, the series creator is most of the reason why Metroid Other M wasn't all it could be. He just couldn't let go of the character he madeand instead use the character everyone loved.
Imagine Other M without a non-sensical story and nunchuck/Classic controller control. It'd be great.
I still think the wii-mote on it's side thing was stupid. They tried to reach to casuals, but no-one who cares about Metroid cares about simple controls. Considering Team Ninja made Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 (I'm going to ingnore 3), they obviously could have done more.

This is the best idea ever
Team Ninja should just do a online muitplayer of Metroid, with the girl cast of Dead or Alive, in their own Power Suit, and even Zero suits!

@LordJumpMad: I'm actually pretty confused as to why Samus wasn't a playable character in Dead or Alive Dimensions. Her in her zero suit... it'd fit right in with the jiggle physics!
That's basically what you're saying, except it's a DOA game instead of a Metroid game, but I digress.

I liked Other M, I wouldn't mind Team Ninja getting another shot at it especially since the Wii U controller has more buttons, the whole sideways wiimote thing was horrible but I think that with the Wii U controller they couldn't possibly get it wrong. My only Suggestion would be to REALLY fix the voice acting if they decide to bring it back, other than that this lady has no objections.

Kinda odd that Dead or Alive Dimensions doesn't give you Club Nintendo coins, even if it has a Metroid Other:M level

You really throw the term shovelware around way too much. Shovelware isn't just any game that you don't like. Shovelware games are games that give the impression that they were hastily made without much care put into them to be quickly put onto shelves. For example, Ninjabread man the Anubis games and other games in the 'popcorn arcade' range.

I wouldn't mind another Other M style game. I rented it, and really enjoyed what I played.

As for the story, that was all up to Sakamoto (the co-creator of Metroid), so don't even try to say it was Team Ninja's fault. TN affected the gameplay (giving the action a Ninja Gaiden-ish pace & flair), not the story.

When it comes to the story Nintendo could just hire another, bether writer to at least work together with Sakamoto. He is an amazing game designer but not so much of a writer.

Other M was enjoyable, especially for $5. Not the biggest Metroid buff, but have at it TM.

Err...I dont think many developers would 'mind' working on a new Metroid game.

I thought the gameplay was great. It would have suited Kid Icarus or Zelda better than Metroid though. After all, Samus is like the Virgin Mary of video game characters, the very cornerstone of strong female leads, and Other M just spat on that. Link has always been kind of a pimp though, what with Saria, Navi, Ruto, Zelda, Nabooru, and Midna, so affecting the important female characters in a sexual way like Other M wouldn't actually be detrimental to the series. It'd be really awkward for Pit though, but hilarious to think of the situations Team Ninja would put him in with Palutena and Viridi. It's going to take retconning to fix the damage to Metroid though...

I enjoyed M too...only thing I didn't like was that it D-Pad only and those annoying (although some of them were ok) random pixel hunt things.

As long as the story is like it was I'll be happy.

All Metroid games deserve to tell a story like that.

Fix the gameplay, and it will be ace.

So what you're saying, I think, is that a strong female character isn't allowed to be sexy, but female characters who follow pimps are?

Samus was perfect in Other M. Yes, she was oversexualised, but in a way that also showed her invulnerability. (Esp at the start, where she starts the adventure in her zero suit, and gets to Ridley and she is once again stripped away after building up her suit).

I would be disappointed if they scrapped all the character development that was put into Other M. That game established the guidelines for how to portray Samus in all future games.

You seem to have gotten it backwards. Strong female characters can be as sexy as the player interprets them, and can be made as attractive as possible by the developers and there's nothing wrong with that. I have a problem when they spend too much time and effort drawing attention to that. Whenever she walks in a cutscene she looks like she's working a runway fashion show, and what is with the slow leg lift in the medical scene. Guys at Team Ninja seem to like them stupid too, which is why Samus's voice sounded like she had gotten a lobotomy at some point.

No, there was an established character for Samus before Other M. It wasn't drawn too much attention to because it wasn't thought of as important, but there's one game that established the character firmly before Other M and did it right. That was Metroid Fusion. They told who Adam was, and he wasn't who he was protrayed as in Other M either. They didn't so much as take a blinking moment before Samus shot the X-infested Ridley either. Everything that Samus said in Fusion was a sign of determination, and her relationship with Adam was not as juvenile either.

Think about Samus's past for a second. What are the biggest factors that would have determined her development other than the attacks by Space Pirates? She was orphaned the first time at the age of 3, so was only picking up very basic human behavior. Then she was raised by the Chozo. You'd think that learning the Chozo language would leave her with some kind of accent, as English would have to be her second language. She doesn't seem to have any odd behaviors like a race of bird people would have either. Maybe she has a constant need to clean herself, or makes strange loud bird call noises when she is startled. Pehaps she is a vegetarian and finds the consumption of eggs and chicken particularly offensive. Can she only sleep soundly when she's in a high place in near perfect darkness? Then there's her military training, which you would expect add several layers of high discipline to that. There's no way she'd be monologing on a mission with military training under her belt. She would also never break down in the face of a real threat, PTSD or not. She would know when it is acceptable to deviate from orders. She would also be in constant communication with her CO, giving him updates at every turn of a corner. In the case of PTSD, she would only break down when she realizes there is no real threat (and something just reminds of of Ridley), or she wouldn't be able to get up and fight even after Anthony saved her. Then she became a mercenary, requiring a certain sense of independence. If she didn't seem like she could handle it, she would have stopped being a mercenary and stopped going after Ridley. Finally, she was clearly very close to Adam, but in Other M, they almost never talk. Seriously, all those cavern and neither Adam nor Samus wants to catch up. "So... Samus, bounty hunter work suiting you well?" "It pays the bills. You gotten any promotions while I was gone?" None of that small talk banter you would expect between close friends. If Adam had respected Samus as much as Fusion would have you believe, they would still be talking. Just because she left the military doesn't mean their relationship flips on it's head and they suddlenly detest eachother while Samus has a secret crush on him. If they wanted to play that angle, Samus might have even been flirting with Anthony in order to try to make Adam jealous, but once again, nothing... and we all thought she was robotic before...

You seem to have a problem with the gameplay as well, which I thought was the one redeeming feature of Other M. Not a system you would expect for Metroid, but still fun in it's own right. If Team Ninja were to do a Kid Icarus game with the same gameplay(with some help with the writing from HAL), it would totally kick ass.

That said there were a couple of good things to come out of Other M. The main one being that Mother Brain was given a human form so as to relate to Samus a bit more. They could have kept her a brain in a jar and done the GlaDOS thing, but now she can don her own power suit and go into battle. Now she can impersonate and incriminate Samus. Now she has direct control over Metroids. I think the perfect retcon would be to say that MB was juvenile, and accidentally used emotional telepathy to project this onto everyone else in the station. The paranoia, the monologing, the teenage crush issues, the fear of Ridley from inexperience, all emotions MB was having and projecting onto everyone else.
