You don't announce something for your most popular fighting game three days before you're launching your risky new IP fighting game. Because that would be stupid.

Lol. Nintendo spent their E3 conference talking about NEW games for the Switch (aside from a brief mention of Pokken), including announcing the heavily demanded Metroid Prime 4 and people are sitting here thinking that Nintendo maybe lost E3 because of not announcing a port. I can't.

What happened to people wanting new games? Super Smash Bros. 4 is old news, and at the end of the day, although it was technically great it didn't feel like a very inspired title to me. I want to see a new Super Smash Bros., and I want to see some spark in it, like we've seen with Breath of the Wild and Odyssey. They're all completely different kinds of games, but I'm sure they could do something.

I share the sentiment. Smash on wii U was a 'me too' in the series. It lacked a lot of the funny finesse we need the smash series to have.

Brawl is a personal favourite of mine with all its quirks, ideas and extras put in. If we get another smash, I want a good one or nothing at all. It needs more spark to it.

Hm... Well I suppose going back and playing it again today, a lot of things were done right. There was some charm in the game. Noticeably the silly screen hitting when a character gets KO'ed in the sky. It was a little bit of Super Smash Bros. 64 silliness.

I think it was full of new characters with great variety, even if I didn't like all of them and my favorite characters (Lucina aside) didn't make it. I also think that the art direction was the best it's been in the series so far. The textures are lightened up from Melee and Brawl, which fits characters like Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Toon Link so much better.

Concretely I want these for the next SSB:
~A single-player, Adventure mode like Melee. It could be flexed out, but would still use locations representing franchises in the series.
~Improvement upon the custom special moves idea. Looking at it, it's a great idea. It could use expansion. Characters like Luigi, Ganondorf, Toon Link, Lucina, etc. should be able to optionally get a completely different moveset of specials through this. I look at what they did with Palutena and lament the fact that it wasn't done for any of the other characters. Sakurai and his biases. It is the perfect way to give the previously established cloney characters completely new, unique, and creative special movesets without upsetting the people who like playing them the way they have been in previous games... But instead only Palutena gets the treatment. sigh

I would rather see Smash 5 instead of a Smash 4 port. Especially if someone else is given the series. Would love to see other developers take a crack at Smash

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Smash 4 is filled with content and, if the Switch port comes with all the previous DLC included and Smash Run, it'll be more than worth paying full price for.

I don't really see the need for another Smash game this gen.

The thing is people who haven't gotten into games like the open world Mario games or The Metroid Series don't understand it and are dissapointed or confused because of these announced
