Topic: RUMOUR: Nintendo involved in the Apple tv conference in some way.

I wouldn't be surprised, and yes I would be very excited. I do think the tv product will happen today, and with the ecosystem in place you'll be looking at a gaming device as much as anything else. A good one at that, too.

I would love it. I hope nintendo makes an appearance today as well

I can't see it happening for the same reasons I can see it happening. In their own ways both Nintendo and Apple are very similar.

Both are companies which march very much to the beat of their own drum, are known for high quality hardware and software, have pioneered products that spawn industries of their own. Both operate very secretly as if they are in a vacuum and both, on occasion, make decisions that beggar belief. Also neither offer online services in the same league as some of their competitors.

EDIT: Also, both have recently lost CEOs that as people embodied the spirit of the organisation they led.

I could easily Apple jumping the gun on what Nintendo games are coming to their stuff. I personally would to prefer to hear from Nintendo what they are doing in regards to their new account and rewards system.

Because I hate Apple and everything they stand for.

Got that you hate Apple from your earlier post. But why do you hate them?

I'd understand if it was due to the awful way the staff are treated in the Foxconn manufacturing plants in China, but Nintendo use them too.

Yes,as the article says, if this was true I too suspect it would involve DeNA's partnership. Having a reveal at an important event such as Apple events is pretty good for both parts:
-for Apple, because it would make its gaming platform more credible;
-for Nintendo, because it would ensure that its mobile games get a great press coverage (because Apple events usually get a great press coverage);

I'm genuinely curious too. They make some of the best products in the world if you ask me (at least from an individual tech perspective). They were responsible for breakthrough, differentiating products as well. And they have high operational business ethics - from environment to services.

Nintendo and apple are very similar within their own cultures and markets. A partnership would make a lot of sense. In general, not liking the product is fine, but I always wonder what it is people think they "stand for" or "do wrong" or "suck at" that makes them sometimes so averse? And why that would be incompatible with nintendo?

I don't really know how I'd feel about it if true. Apple has been great in the past but replacing the 160GB iPod Classic was a very bad idea in my opinion (the only good iPod).

No, it's mostly from a tech/dev stand point. They've actually improved on that in the last few years, but they're still making overpriced exclusive generic hardware with as far as I'm concerned weak OS's. And to top it off we're stuck with something even worse, their horrible fanbase who take anything they say literally.

I agree about the similarities between Apple & Nintendo re. hardware quality, pricing, etc. and can easily see some legs in this rumour.

I've never touched Apple products because I've not seen the value of its aesthetics-driven development - if I can have the same functionality for cheaper and not be locked in to Apple restrictions, why pay more for the shiny-shiny?

The difference Nintendo brings is the focus on fun and its unique and iconic IPs.

I have previously predicted the NX could be a streaming hub, maintaining compatibility with the gamepad. Anticipation for tomorrow has just leveled up...

...though in reality, if it was a streaming service I could see prices being higher and the lack of a 'used' market would see me getting out of the Nintendo scene - eshop prices are not for me.

I could see it work. When nintendo announced they'd be making software for the smartphone world, surely someone at apple must have thought it'd be great if there's some form of exclusivity to them.

Makes sense in business and timing. I've previously joked about nx being a controller for your ios devices (that would hold true for a new apple tv as well) but just because nx is probably not that won't make it unfathomable as a concept. We'll see soon enough. One thing is certain: if the apple tv has an app store - which is very likely - it'll be, in part, a gaming device. Apple will have a good entry point in the gaming market, that's for sure. I'd figure nintendo better be on board instead of excluded from it.

I'll go follow that new apple gaming account on twitter now.

It would make sense to announce the first mobile game to people who play games on their phones, not people who play consoles and handhelds.

Plus the combination of the new Apple product and Mario's 30th Birthday would be fitting. Not that I'm going to play anything on Apple platforms.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

So it's not the human suffering, more the products they produce that people can choose to buy or not?

I'd agree somewhat the hardware costs (especially with regards to storage across all their devices), but I wouldn't call either OS weak. Application availability is weaker granted on OS X, but that is due to the lower install base over Windows not always making it worth the devs time porting it across. Again, like Nintendo.

I don't see any reason to never touch a Nintendo product again due to a partnership with Apple, especially as any partnership would be limited in the sense that it wouldn't be a full on merger.

What if the new apple tv lets you play a mario maker level a day on your apple tv. Want more? Buy a wii U.

Could see that happening.

I heard a rumour there's nothing to this rumour.

There could very well be nothing to it. But consider the market changing for nintendo if they are not involved, and changing if they are. I'd like to see them partnering.

Whilst the market is changing it's not changing to playing andorid games on tv, that's failed multiple times now.
