Honestly Nintendo would be in serious financial trouble if they purchased SEGA or Capcom and as "cool" as it would be it would be a terrible move long-term.

Wasn't capcom like almost broke a few months ago? So I don't think buying capcom would be that expensive.
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA
I highly doubt Capcom would be broke, not while Monster Hunter is around.
Monster Hunter is the reason Capcom is still around. They only had 152 million in the bank in September 2013. If it wasn't for Monster Hunter 4 (not Ultimate), they would have gone bankrupt most likely. USF4 and MH4U then helped them rebound a bit.

Think it less simple than that - they own lots of very valuable property in Japan.

When you purchase a company you also inherit the company's debt and both SEGA and Capcom have a huge amount of debt. In fact from what I've heard both companies have more debt than earnings and the only thing keeping them afloat is their collateral.

Nintendo does have enough money to pay sega's debt if true. It be easy for them, and reviving their ips would definitely make the debt seem like nothing.

There is nothing that I can find to suggest either Capcom or Sega have loads of debt. (Plenty to suggest they own lots of real estate in expensive parts of Japan).

What they need is people who have worked together for a long time and want to continue doing so - seems it is very unlikely for that to happen. (What happened with Microsoft buying Rare is the expected outcome of doing that).

Doesn't seem like Microsoft uses them much anyways.
Eh, there's no point in getting Rare back, well maybe for the IPs. But yeah basically the Rare we all know and love is now known as Playtonic.
I am not sure about that. They just specify ex Rare without saying who. Some were at Crytek I dunno if they still are but if it was them I don't think they would be using Unity.
