I think more worrisome is just how well the PS4 and Xbox One are doing, it's never good to be the guy who is easily tagged as the third place finisher in a race of three. Nintendo is not going to keel over anytime soon, but two or three more years of the same, they risk irrelevancy in the long run.

@cpm So a console that's selling worse than the Gamecube, with no sign of games after Mario Kart 8 until Smash Bros in the Winter and is quickly losing momentum is considered fine? How is Nintendo fine? Please explain.

They are nowhere near debt. They have plenty of money banked. They can afford the Wii U being a failure. They are fine

@Unca_Lz I wasn't saying they were in debt, I was more talking about the current state of affairs with the Wii U. They're kind of in this weird state where nobody takes them seriously. The industry loves to pick on them and some dont even consider the Wii U an 8th gen console. They're walking down the path to irrelvancy. No Nintendo will not keel over, Yes they have plenty of money in their pockets but with the way things are going, they've started heading in that direction. I just hope they either clean up their act soon or REALLY step it up next gen.

I would like to know somoething, though.... Does Michael Patcher actually own a Wii U? Because, everytime I hear people complaining about the Wii U (and specially about the Gamepad) is usually people who don't own a Wii U.

Anything Michael Patcher says is completely irrelevant to me.

Reggie shouldn't be the President of Nintendo. (The most stupidity in the whole company is the American part).

As long as they continue as they are then they will be able to continue until after I am dead. (Usually they start spending more and more though the longer it gets). If they have another great success within 10 years it won't really matter financially.

I would argue the Japanese part is worse, considering most of the archaic policies came from them

I'm pretty sure Patcher owns a Wii U, and probably all of the major consoles........he has referenced his own personal experiences with the Wii U a few times now.........I don't agree with everything he says, but the majority of his comments aren't completely in left field.

And yet their games still receive universal praise from most websites. I doubt they'll be irrelevant anytime soon

Yeah, Kyoto seems to be the most inane, that's pretty well documented by now, NOA is more or less a marketing body, which is a shame because it's North America and Europe which keeps the gaming world turning.

@DanMan82 Wait, people are saying Reggie should be fired? Why?! What did Reggie do wrong?

You need look no further than this interview to realise how out of touch and clueless Reggie is.

More recent examples include: “Fan petitioning doesn't affect what we do” and that Cranky Kong announcement.

Not that it truly matters, but you can tell Reggie isn't the biggest gamer in the world if he can't understand the differences in the critical and or fan reaction to something like Super Mario Galaxy in comparison to the New Super Mario Bros. Series

How does any of that make him bad? I may agree that he's not qualfied, but your examples don't make sense to me. If anything, the fact that he understands how necessary it is to tell people that petitions don't work (because they shouldn't affect what a company does. Just like how you shouldn't loan money to a random stanger just because they say they'll pay you back) makes him look good, or at least better than he would otherwise.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold more than both Galaxies combined and in fact Galaxy 2 sold a lot less than the first one while NSMBW sold about as much if not more than the DS iteration. I think they can be at least somewhat excused for thinking like a business and listening to the numbers.

well there's a theory to explain those numbers, though I guess it's against the rules since it's about piracy....

I kinda doubt it affected it that much. The idea sounds a little too shady to me. (No pun intended.)

^yeah it might be false, there's also the fact NSMBWii had a good multiplayer while Galaxy had a bad excuse for Mutiplayer(seriously, it'd had been better off without giving the false impression of being multiplayer when it's just a pointer helper)
