Honestly as a big Harvest Moon fan, I didn't think Story of Seasons looked as good as it could, despite still wanting to play it. Harvest Moon: A New Beginning was kind of disappointing as well. I really hope this Harvest Moon will get the series back on the right track, can't wait to see hear more about it.

Yeah, I did not entirely like ANB and since SoS uses the same engine I'm not fully interested in it yet.

I REALLY want this original Harvest Moon to be good.

I know a lot of people tend to disagree, but I think that a Tale of Two Towns felt more like classic Harvest Moon than any other entry in the series since say.. Back to Nature. It just felt like it had the classic charm, despite it mixing things up a bit. I liked A Wonderful Life and felt it had charm, but I just can't get passed the 2nd Spring. It just drags on waaaay to long. Magical Melody was super clunky and I couldn't stand to play it.. I haven't even bothered with the Wii games.. Maybe I just don't have to patience for them anymore, but another problem is time doesn't pass fast enough. I feel like half the time I'm standing around waiting for stuff to happen, even when I'm collecting gifts and handing them out. I don't remember ever having that problem with games like HM64 and Back to Nature.

Well, here are some features of Lost Valley that I have been able to recollect.

Will be available in both digital and retail formats for the 3DS.
It is A full fledged Harvest Moon RPG.
It will feature some sort of world customization.
Male and female character options.
They will use a graphical style similar to Marvelous' games.
All the main focus of the series will return:'social interactions, marriage, farming, ranching, etc.
There's an odd emphasis on flowers in the PR and Natsume's answers in their forums, could this be related to the Lost Valley?
They will try to get in all the little activities Harvest Moon is know for, like Fishing.

They say they will release new info in the coming days and much more during the e3. A demo will be available in the event.

Let me guess. Harvest Moon and Rune Factory (the only games they're known for nowadays).

Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns is one of my favorite 3DS games. SO GOOD.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I highly doubt they'll be announcing anything Rune Factory related. No details about RF5 have been announced, aside from that it's in development (and we don't even know if it's still in development--not after the shutdown of Neverland).

It isn't impossible, but I wouldn't count on it.

Cringing is really fun.

One of the games is a Wii U exclusive. Natsume tweeted that the Wii U is getting a game when somebody asked them if the Wii U was getting an exclusive game.

Not to mention that if any Rune Factory announcements are made, we can be pretty certain that they won't come from Natsume.

So the lost valley is basically a bootleg?

It's more like Natsume trying to reclaim the brand. They have the rights to the name, they just need to make a game to put behind that name As funny as it is, I wouldn't call it a bootleg or rip-off or w/e

But Nastume never made the game though. So in a sense it is a bootleg? I have to confess though, I thought Natsume made all the harvest moon game for the past 15 years of my life. Someone on this forum told me it was marvelous and not natsume lol.

You're right, Natsume didn't make the games, they just localized them. And I know what you're saying but given the fact Natsume owns the rights to the name "Harvest Moon" means they can do whatever they want with it. Obviously they're choosing to not let the brand die or be fully taken from them.

Though I'm hesitant with what Natsume will be able to produce given that they've never developed the games, the only reason I wouldn't consider it a rip-off is that I think Lost Valley should be given a fair chance. What if it's good but people dismiss it because it's a 'bootlegged' game?

Good point. The recent harvest moon games are pretty dry (haven't tried the latest one yet), might as well try something new.

You can call it bootleg, but it is more of a clone.

Keep in mind, though, that Natsume has decades of experience in the genre and a lot lot of feedback from American players. Enough to basically tailor the game to cater to our specific "fan needs" without the limits of being simply translating an existing work.

Yeah, it's easier to be ok with this if you stop thinking about the Harvest Moon series as "translations of the Japanese BokuMono games made by Marvelous" and start thinking about it as a "a series of farming games that happens to be composed mostly of translations of BokuMono games".

Not making "clones" of the previous games in the series would be pretty counterproductive if they plan to keep it alive.

By the way, that's how fans are referring to the original series now: BokuMono, it is a short version of the Japanese name.

It's because calling the Japanese series "Harvest Moon", as it defaulted to until a few days ago, is no longer correct and it simply increases the confusion with the new games. Like saying Story of Seasons is the "real" new Harvest Moon.

You guys should see the Ushi No Tane forums, people went crazy there yesterday

All three games have been revealed, they are a city/train simulator game for the 3DS and a seemingly RPG adventure game for WiiU.

The summaries are in the first post.

Lol

Someone in the Natsume forums created this box art based on the description of the game they released today.

I wonder if the "Harvest Satan" will be a marriage option
