To be honest after I saw Killer Instinct being developed by Double Helix I thought that Rare would be up for sale to other companies (Nintendo) .. But now this came out </3
Are you a fanboy? Personally it doesn't matter to me I just hope they can get it together and give me games that are on par to those that Rare used to make back in the days. Even then I doubt Nintendo would want Rare back considering all the talent left and Rare is just a shell of its former self. I hope MS can make Rare get their act together but as of now I'm just a skeptical d*** hoping that maybe Rare will pull itself together and maybe I can get a somewhat decent Banjo or Conker game (although they already f***ed up with Conker so I'm not holding my breath).

Why would MS sell Rare. If they sold Rare they would lose the rights to games like Conker, Killer Instinct, Banjo etc. Those IPS alone are worth keeping Rare.

Yeah but they don't even use those IPs so why not sell them to someone who would use them. Bad enough they decided to waste Conker on project derp (spark).

Rare literally made perhaps my favorite games for N64.. Killer Instinct Gold, Golden Eye 007, Banjo & Kazooie & Sequel, Donkey Kong 64.. I swear.. those were the poopoodoodoocacapoopledoople.. I just wish Banjo & Kazooie would have been retained as a Nintendo IP.. because technically it was introduced in a donkey kong games..

Yeah sell popular IPs like that to your competitors so they can make games that gamers want and end up buying Wii Us or PS4s instead of Xboxs. Yeah that's a smart business move.

Who says they'd sell them to Sony or Nintendo? I would assume they'd sell or license them out to 3rd parties to make Xbox One games.

Still by doing that there is still a chance that those games could wind up on Nintendo and Sony consoles. Right now MS is in total control of the IPs and to where they go and what is done with them. So again why would they want to lose that type of control?

Because they don't do anything with them? I don't see what they would lose if they had a 2nd party take on an Xbox exclusive Conker or Banjo or something, and personally, I couldn't care less about Rare or their IPs. Besides, even if it was on PlayStation, the vast majority of Xone games are anyways.
Also, one of the big 3 has already been perfectly content to allow Rare and their IPs to go to another one of the big 3 exclusively.

Money plain and simple that's what they would lose out on. By keeping it MS makes sure they are an Xbox exclusive. Just think how many Xbox Ones they would move if they were to announce that a new Banjo game was coming exclusive to the Xbox One. Think how many more they will move if it turned out to be a good one and I am talking about as good as the N64 one. I know alot of people that bought an Xbox One just because they have Killer Instinct on it heck it almost got me to buy one, but then Mattrick went on with all that online BS and DRM stuff but that's another story.
The point is yes I understand that they dont do anything with them and it may seem to a gamer like its a wasted IP but the MS executives aren't gamers they are business men. Basically that's the jest of it.

I like you as a poster dood, but did you even read what I wrote?

After Nuts and Bolts, I'm pretty sure that Banjo-Kazooie is good as dead an an IP.
At this point, it doesn't matter how good the next game is, what matters to gamers in general was how bad Nuts and Bolts was. Faith and trust hit rock bottom.

@brewsky: It was just an example. But still if they made one and the reviews said it was as good as the N64 Banjo people would forget about that mess that is Nuts and Bolts
@8bitSamurai: Yes I read what you wrote but second party developers are not as secure as first party developers but they are more secure then third party. A second party game could still in theory be ported to another system for example it could be an exclusive to the Xbox for say a year and then after the year time limit be ported to the PS4 and Wii U. Still doesn't give them the same amount of control.

I understand it was an example. But I know I won't forget about the mess that was Nuts and Bolts. And I won't buy an Xbox One for a new Banjo-Kazooie that's as good or better than the original.
But my personal opinion is extremely anecdotal in this discussion, so I'll shut up now.

@brewsky: Yeah I am sure there are people out there like you who wont buy an Xbox One for a new Banjo game cause of Nuts and Bolts. But then on the other side of the coin I am pretty sure there are people who will.
