In their latest format change today they've gotten rid of Cube, GBA and 64 reviews. I still found those valuable for buying old games; which I think a lot of people still do, based on the brisk business the trade stores seem to be doing around here. Anyway, I kind of understand but I still think it sucks!

archive.org has some of those pages archived, if you're interested. there'll probably be some holes, though.

Eh, I don't care about metacritic anyways. The overall score for Predator on there is 36 out of 100. Any site that says that is of no use to me.

Makes me wonder who the reviewers are that they average, because the user rating for that movie is 8.6 out of 10.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

I didn't realize they went that far back in the first place. I guess it sucks, but there are tons of easily accessible retro review sites. No big deal, really. I don't think there were really enough review submitted for a Metascore to be of any use, anyways.

Meh, the only times i use Metacritic (which is barely ever) is for a one-stop list to hotlink to reviews for newer games.

Well, regardless of all the Metacritic haters out there, I did like and use it quite often. I did find that they were quite slow to add new info but appreciated the collected reviews and averages.

Just so you know, Gamerankings still host retro reviews, so you can always use that if you're interested in retro metascores/compiled reviews.

Yeah I'm really gonna miss them. I decided to buy SMA4 and Superstar Saga using the GBA reviews on that site.

I use the Metacritic scores as a general guide, but always look through to see whose scores they're using.

I looked up the reviews on the gamecube version of NFL Blitz I just bought there before grabbing it.

I listen to people's thoughts on this website and the Backloggery more often. Some critics can be really biased.

Of course, it's just one tool in the box but it was a useful one...well, still is...just not for obsolete systems anymore. Oh well, like some of you have pointed out, there are others out there.

Actually, the people you're referring two are even more likely to be biased, but at least with them you have a far better idea as to what their biases are, what they've played before, etc. So you can better adjust for the differences in taste. You can't really do that with random reviewers.
