I'd assume Star Wars would be the big thing for Infinity 3, like Marvel was for 2.0.

This was my first thought. I'd assume they would exploit the heck out of the franchise this winter!

I don't even recognise some of those characters and i would class myself as a Disney fan haha!
But yeah i agree with the above posts, the timing seems too perfect for it to not be Star Wars focused, New Film, Battlefront 3, etc.
Hopefully there will be some Disney playsets this time, part of the reason i still haven't picked up 2.0

Disney is getting sites to remove the picture in the OP, so that certainly lends it a big amount of credibility. It still seems strange there's no Star Wars figures in it though. I know they have the regular Disney figures, even when they made 2.0 themed around Marvel, but you'd think the marketing is going to be heavily SW-Based.

I am pretty sure they are going to focus on starwars this time around but I do hope that they keep with the marvel figures. In the absence of a real game DI is all I have for my marvel gaming fix.

I am not sure how I feel about making Star Wars the main focus. The Star wars fan side of me loves the idea but the Disney fan side of me thinks it would be the high point of the Disney Infinity series, and it would just lose popularity from then on. Maybe if they just came out with a Star wars Rebels Playset this year it would work out best? I am not sure.

Seeing that picture makes me think they are back to Pixar Infinity. I would like to know for Star Wars if they are going to focus exclusively in Episode VII.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Interesting, I am just worried that this will be the high point of Disney Infinity and DI 4 and on won't sell as well as DI 3.

@DefHalan - They can't worry about being the "high point" and DI4 right now. They have to make the best game they can right now (and as much money as possible) with DI3. Once that is done then they have to try to top themselves. I'm very excited about DI right now!

While I agree they need to focus on DI3 and making it the best possible game they can, they also need to look to the future of the series. If DI3 does mark a high point for the series, then will there be a DI5 or DI6? How much longer will they have this revenue stream. As a fan of Disney infinity (I am only missing 6 figures in total, not counting phineas and ferb as my Wife hates that show) I don't want to see the end of the series yet. Hopefully they can keep the series going for a long time. I also wonder if any old Playsets will work in DI3 or if only the old games will support the old Playsets, similar to DI2. That also makes me wonder about the new Marvel Playset, will that work in both DI2 and DI3 or just one of them.

Thanks for the article. It makes sense that they covered both trilogies, so maybe they will focus on VII as it nears release. I will be getting the Obi Wan figurine.

@DefHalan - Sure, you're right, they need to be planning ahead to keep the series alive even after the introduction of Star Wars makes a huge splash. I'm sure there will be plenty of content for future versions of the game and no need to worry about running out of steam or ideas. Let's take a look at just the highlights of what Disney has in store for 2016 releases (http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/2016):

March 4 - Zootopia
April 15 - The Jungle Book
May 6 - Captain America: Civil War
May 27 - Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass
June 17 - Finding Dory
August 12 - Pete's Dragon
Nov. 4 - Dr. Strange
Nov. 23 - Moana
Dec. 16 - Star Wars: Rogue One

Those titles alone would be enough to completely fill out a DI4. Then there are still thousands of classic characters still waiting for their inclusion in the game.

But without a major new brand to be the focus it may be tough to generate the amount of hype that the introduction of Marvel and then Star Wars has.

And that is my worry. With putting so much Star Wars focus on this year's Disney infinity, people's expectations for future games will be even higher, creating a goal that cannot be achieved, most likely. As a Disney fan I will be excited for the movies you listed but will those be enough to sell Disney Infinity 4? I hope it will be, but this much focus on Star Wars may cause such a boom that all following Disney Inifinity games are looked as less than this, so it keeps getting harder to sell. The Marvel content wasn't as bad as there is plenty of content to pull from to make more Marvel things. With Star Wars they are kinda covering everything in 1 go. Hopefully theywill be able to keep the Hype going for Disney Infinity without it becoming to expensive to produce.

Also I did create a Disney Infinity General Discussion forum here https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wii-u/disney_infinity_gene... that way we can talk about the game there and keep this news section for DI News.

You need a base, Disney Infinity does not support the GamePad's reader. Without a playset and just 1 character you will have access to a limited Toy Box. The starter set is recommended for new users, you get the base, 2 figures, and a playset. Earlier DI bases work so you might be able to get one used for pretty cheap. Toys R Us is having some great deals on their DI stuff, you might be able to get 2.0 pretty cheap now.
