We should know who bought them by tomorrow. I'm hoping it's either nintendo or a 3rd party. It would suck if sony or microsoft got them. Because shin megami tensei x fire emblem would be cancelled.

I'd be happy with Sony. They'd take good care of the franchises. It would just suck that FExSMT would get canceled.

What I don't want is for EA, Activision or MS to buy them. That'd be horrible.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

I don't know where people got the idea that FExSMT can be cancelled. That is never going to happen. People simply come up with crazy ideas, as if a Sony acquisition is even possible etc. The game is in development so there is an agreement in place between the companies. Stopping it because of a (theoretical impossible) change of control of the company is a material breach and will not be part of the plan of the potential buyer. They will have to live with such an agreement or postpone such an acquisition until the obligation is fulfilled.

Y'know, Rare still made games for Nintendo devices for a few years after they slipped out of Nintendo's hands.

Microsoft allowed Rare to make some handheld games for Nintendo platforms, since they don't directly compete in the market.

Edit: Sorry, wrong quote

Good point, but it's a different story. It was Nintendo itself selling the assets, so they could have agreed to cancel any games as part of the negotiations.

In this case, Nintendo has no reason to agree to cancel the game, since it's getting nothing out of the deal if someone else buys Atlus. It's a firm commitment that Atlus and/or its buyer will have to perform.

Rareware didn't slip from Nintendo's hands. Nintendo very cleverly got rid of a fledgling studio. Rareware got the "indespenisble" mindset and didn't realise how strong Nintendo's influence was at Rareware. Nintendo made a handsome sum of money and got far more than they were worth from Microsoft who thought buying Rareware was as good as buying Nintendo. How wrong they were. As the talent at Rareware very quickly abandoned the studio once reality hit. Virtually no Rareware staff still work for the now "Rare" it is now an appalling studio hiding behind a brand name the Stamper Bros built over twenty years ago. By all rights, the original staff could and should reform under another name and begin workin with Nintendo again. THAT would be amazing, but they have all either left the industry or all divided into smaller studios.
