Even though NintendoLife just reported on how this game is gonna be bloody and have some profanity, Im still going to try and pick it up because Im pretty sure that in the first Lords of Shadow game was no different from this one. Whats your reasoning for or for not getting it.

I'm going to get it because it's a new Castlevania game.

I've been a Castlevania fan since the beginning. I haven't enjoyed every single game released but I am a fan of most. I must have this on my 3DS!

I'm not getting it because they out stuff like a topless vampire in it to make it M. I was so ticked off when I learned it was M. They made sure no sale came from me with that decision.

I'll play the demo first and see how I like it.

Not getting it, but mainly because other games exist and I am not rich.

Being associated with the uncreative mediocrity known as Lords of Shadow doesn't help though. Though it does look like a much better game.

You do realise that vampire stories are meant to be highly erotic, right?

It's about time Castlevania caught up and started telling these stories right.

I know vampire story have traditionally had vampires seducing people and them killing them by drinking all their blood, But I find it distasteful and have seen have amazing vampire tales that don't involve and don't need seducing people. I would rather Castlevania didn't do this kind if thing as it seemed to get by pretty well without this kind before although I must admit that I have never played Castlevania before.

I still have no clue whether I'll be getting it or not; I've been skeptical ever since it was revealed that it would handled be the Lords of Shadow team and not Iga's team, and the videos and previews I've seen/read really haven't done much to sway me, but I'm still trying to withhold judgement until it's out. I'm hoping that the upcoming demo will do a lot to help settle my decision for me, one way or the other.

The whole point about the vampire genre is its sensuality. The vampire myth emerged out of a historic Christian fear of sexuality - or to put it simply, Vampire stories are horror morality tales. That's why traditional Christian symbols became weapons against vampires in these tales.

A vampire story without the sex is like Ice Cream without dairy. It's fake.

I would have to disagree there; the traditional Vampire story was built upon those values but modern interpretations don't necessarily need to follow all of them. That's precisely why people who read Bram Stoker's Dracula might find it dull - because it's very slow paced, and for audiences without the grounding in that period's Christian fears, it's not particularly scary. I think the Vampire mythos is most effective when it plays upon the fears and secret desires of the current generation - and perhaps that's why Twilight has had so much success lately.

Anyway back on topic; I might consider this game, but I'm not sure if I'll get it. I prefer the Symphony of the Night/GBA style Castlevanias the most, and this isn't looking like one of them from the information that's out :/

To be fair, sex has been a constant fear since the human species has been a thing.

Whether that's the Christian fear of sex (which I agree with you, is outdated), or its various modern fears of sex (to use your Twilight example, it's a sexy themed text, but the fear there is in terms of youth relationships). Look at Anne Rice - she's always done a good job of modernising the vampire myth, but sex is still a central plot point.

Outside of the games industry I can't think of a single decent vampire story that isn't laden with sexualised imagery and themes. It's just part of the genre (in fact it's part of the entire horror genre, but that's another story for another day).

I watched the first season if vampire knight which had no sex seen or unseen and the story was absolutely incredible. Probably better than most vampire storys.
