@cookiex: then again kimishima did say directs will be using a new format starting next year. And odds are we will have a direct by the time FE Fates comes to North America.

@WebHead: isn't that the case for everyone there everytime? Why is this one any different/special? Nintendo had their 'best' E3 in years in 2014 and followed it up with one of their 'worst' or so it was deemed by the Internet, and what changed over that timespan? Not a lot, Wii U struggled, 3DS has had several successes and some Nintendo fans have been happy, some not-so-happy and life goes on. Nintendo will reveal their new console, some people will be happy, others not-so-happy and it is impossible to tell where it will go at this point. Why are the stakes suddenly so high by the way you see things? Are Nintendo in crisis? Again?
I'm guessing there's at least one slated for this month or February. What I'm actually more interested to see is the new changes and the new format of Directs this year and beyond. I hope it's generally longer this time around... maybe one hour, at least.
God first.

I think the first one will be late January/early February. It'll be the last one solely dedicated to 3DS and Wii U, and it will also use the old format. I think the new format will be for an NX reveal event in March/April/May - the first Nintendo Direct Live, perhaps?
Since Splatoon will be getting its last big update this month I'm going to guess the direct will fall around the 15th or the week after. If not then a direct will happen in February to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the original Legend of Zelda which released in japan on February 21,1986.
There's also the big question of FE Fates release date in Europe. If that game is being shown off in the next Direct, it would need to be in January unless Europe is getting a large delay like Kirby (or NA's Yoshi situation).
I definitely think before E3 there'll be a Wii U and 3DS direct going over all the games for the new fiscal year in spring or close to e3, like a final goodbye to the generation.

I'm guessing there's going to be two, one either this month or next month to cover the Spring lineup (Star Fox Zero, Pokken, FE Fates, etc.) and one more around April or May to cover the Summer lineup (probably Federation Force, Genei Ibuku whatever, etc.).
I am going to be bold and say we will have a Direct either this week or next. (I am more inclined towards next) and the new President will wish all Nintendo fans a Happy New Year.
Before the 22nd January is seeming very likely, along with a lot of the stuff already discussed I just remembered that there will have to be a Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) title update before Legends comes out, otherwise how will you be able to use the Legends characters on Wii U? Back when the season pass content was happening October 2014 - February 2015, I remember downloading DLC packs as soon as they were available and the update hadn't appeared yet so the DLC wasn't playable.
@WebHead: I'm thinking very early April, isn't the earnings report thing at the end of March? Of which last year that led to the April 1st Direct timing.
Usually Nintendo Directs are during the first two weeks of the month. I expect the next one in February.
Not sure about the NX reveal. My guess is that Nintendo will reveal it in April at the earliest because of the new fiscal year, but what do I know.
