OK so basically this is my problem.
a couple of days ago my dumb cat had knocked my wii u off of a cabinet and now it wont eject the disk.
side notes:
the disk was very expensive and i'm not willing to replace it
i refuse to send it in to Nintendo as they will most likely give me a new Wii u with none of my previous data on it
i refuse to call Nintendo customer support as in England it costs about £1.50 every 3 minutes (approx. $2.15)
and i wont open it up as it would void my warranty
can anyone submit an answer ASAP
Thank you
@OneHellOfAButler Is it Xenoblade Chronicles X by any chance? The disc is slightly thicker than other Wii U discs and I've had that occur a couple times. I just kept trying until my disc finally successfully ejected.
Why do you care about voiding the warranty if you won't really utilize that warranty anyway?
Anyway, your best option right now is contacting Nintendo. You don't need to do it by phone, and you can specify them that you want to keep the data intact, in the case you need to send it for repairs.
@Meowpheel i will try to email nintendo but to answer your question it's because i believe that this might just be a simple problem that can be fixed without repairs.
If you can call Nintendo and send the console for repairs, do it. Most likely, your dear cat broke the disc reader or at least the ejection mechanism, so Nintendo should replace that, not your console.
And in the case they have to replace it, they can transfer all the data from one console to another. I don't think this is a problem you can solve without opening the console. What if you get the disc out but can't get another in?
My final recommendation? Keep the console in such a way the cat can't drop it... or the cabinet.
@gcunit it makes a noise like it's trying to eject but nothing comes out of it, and when i start the game it makes a horrible scratching noise so i turn it off immediately when it does that.
@OneHellOfAButler Well, as someone else has said, your warranty is worthless if you're not prepared to use it.
I know if I were in your position, I wouldn't be able to resist trying to help ease the disc out while pressing the eject button. Obviously I'd try gently at first, teasing it from every angle, but ultimately I would end up forcing it out if I had to, in the hope that the only damage would be to the drive, and maybe the disc.
@gcunit@Tasuki it's because my family is trying to squeeze a DVD player, a tv box, a Wii, a Wii u and a butt-ton of DVDs on a small wooden cabinet.
however we do have a compartment that opens from the front with openings at the back, so I'm thinking about putting my consoles in there and threading the cables through the openings provided just to keep it organized and cat-proof. ;3
