Came home from work yesterday looking to fire up some Super Metroid and I found that the Wii U would not respond. Unplugged the console and plugging it back in didn't work. Swapping plugs didn't either. I'm was worried I would have to RMA the unit
Searching online I found that you have to reset the power brick by unplugging it for 2+ minutes. Probably draining all of the capacitors inside the power brick. I was really skeptical that it would work but it actually worked ha!
We've had some storms roll through this week so that might have caused it but everything is behind a decent surge protector. So I hope I don't have a faulty power brick.
tl;dr if your Wii U shows no signs of life, unplug the power brick from both the wall and Wii U.
I'm going to be honest. I came into this thread expecting to post about the power brick reset because 9 times out of 10, that's all you need to do.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
I'm curious if this is a built in safety mechanism or if it's a faulty brick design. I feel the brick should come with a clear/reset button for this instance.
