I've gotten that problem quite a few times but not lately. Lately I've had a problem where I'll click a tab and the page will load all weird and not show news articles and show the forum topics and screenshots all jumbled up, or I'll click a forum topic and it just shows a post reply button, no comments.

Just now it said it wanted to run something on my computer, this^. After I clicked cancel it gave me the red screen.

I've also gotten a couple red screens. This hasn't happened until recently, oddly.

I just got a message like that from Internet Explorer yesterday (reformatted my computer and hadn't downloaded Chrome yet). Never got a request to run a program though, thankfully.
Come on, friends,

If it's harmful to every other computer, yes it is harmful to yours too.
Unless your computer is just extra special.

@Alex - no, I just go on my laptop practically every day.

Don't believe them.
I got so bored reading through all the whining on the 'Nintendo doesn't care about virtual console' thread I fell asleep and dropped the laptop.

And just because something is harmful doesn't mean something bad will happen.
Harmful illustrates something COULD happen, which has been proven already.

In response to the other thread..
McAfee is worse than Norton and Norton isn't bad. How are you all judging these things? By how pretty their icons are?

You should sue the site AB, I am for emotional scarring and distress, as for Norton, my own experience with Norton wasn't good, lost count of how many times it needed re-installed, as well as being extremely fussy with what software it could or could not work alongside, tried a few others like AVG, Avast and now Comodo, personally like Comodo security most its new but good.

It just did it again where it asks to run something on my computer.

I think it's the 3rd-party ads. I run Firefox on my computer and honestly didn't know that viruses could now be spread by malicious code on web pages. I was on this site a few weeks ago and got a sudden virus alert followed by something installing itself on my computer automatically. I've learned to just turn my computer off if something weird starts happening, and haven't had any problems since. If it ever happens again, I will take note of what's on the screen before I shut down.

Microsoft Security Essentials should keep you safe. I don't know how well it'll stand if you visit the more unsavoury corners of the internet, but if you're just browsing places like NL then it should do you fine. It's also free.

Does that to me too sometimes MetalMario.Edit: I used to use IE and it done it all the time. I use Chrome now and the issue resolves itself and reloads. I just wonder what is up with all the reloading this site has to do. Seems like if you are on one page on this site more than 10 seconds it has to load something else over and over.

what anti-virus software did you use? You have to be careful when you chose to use an anti-virus software cause not all of them are good. I recommend you to use Kaspersky, I use it too and I can say that it's the best I've ever had.
