While browsing the NL forums my internet browser started loading continously over and over on the same page. After about 10 seconds on the same page it brought up an error message saying "This site is not safe" and my url bar was red. Just wondering what this was about and if you all know about this or have had it happen to you?

Of course this site isn't safe. I'm here.

Oh and get a Mac. Problem solved.

I've been having problems too.

I think it's an advertisement issue.

Is it trying to get you to do something... like go to a link?

I thought I was the only one having this problem. Good thing I'm not. Phew.

My issue was a new tab popped open on Firefox and it showed a picture of what looks like everything under My Computer, then it showed a little red bar and a flashing message that said "Your files are being stolen!"

Then it had a link to scan for malware.

But I just said "Oh hell no" and closed the tab and all was well again.

It's the advertisement provider this site uses. It occasionally serves up ads that Google's anti-malware services have identified as dangerous. Just refresh a few times until the error goes away.

@AlexSays - Smart move. If you have the software( That you can trust), I'd scan the computer for anything suspicious.

No, it just goes to a blank screen saying that the site isn't safe and has a link for me to go to my home page.

I started using a Mac about 7 years ago and I haven't looked back since. My wife recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad and I set some stuff up and it reminded me how good I had it on this Macbook.

It would take some getting used to. I'm gonna start transcribing from home so I'll probably just stick with a PC since it would slow me down to have to learn the ins and outs of a mac, I'd say. I know it wasn't fun in high school to try and use one.

Lucky you. After I upgraded my iBook to a MacBook, my wife seized control of it. I think I have occasional visitation rights, but that's about it.
