Topic: The Worst Possible Thing Has Happened!

So I accidentally tripped over the wire when my 3DS XL was charging. It fell off my desk and the charger port has deformed so that the cable no longer fits in it! My battery is full but I have turned the system off as when it runs down I won't be able to charge it anymore! I'm going to contact nintendo about this but I'm worried they might charge more than necessary especially with shipping of it back and forth etc- can anyone suggest a better way of sorting this out, maybe I could fix it myself or someone on here could? Ill post a pic when I figure out how as I'm posting this from my phone!

does the 3DSXL have that charging "station"? if it does(and you have it) you're in luck because it doesn't use the charger port, it uses two metalic thingies beside the port!

Oh sweet! I don't have it but could probably find one for cheap, I didn't know about those but I love the wii u charging cradle which I assume is similar! Thanks a lot ill look into it.

Sadly not. You'll have to fork over $80 just to fix a stupid charging port.

Yeah, you can get a 3rd party charging station for about $10-25 on Amazon, depending on quality. May be worth your while, depending on the shipping and repair cost.

That's what I was scared of, have only had my 3ds about 2 months so that would suck, gonna have to look into this charging station, thanks a lot guys.

Um... You have 1-year warranty from Nintendo from the time of purchase if I'm not wrong? :S

Warranties generally only cover you against defects, not against damage you cause.

If you can't find any that is cheap and fits the size of the XL anywhere, Nintendo does have a charging cradle for the 3DS XL on their online store for $19. As GuSilverFlame mentioned earlier, the official charging cradle for the 3DS XL uses two metal prongs that touches the little metal plates next to the spot for the AC adapter plug and the AC adapter plugs into the charging cradle. It's just like the official charging cradle for the 3DS if you've seen that before, but for the XL. Good luck finding one soon so you can play with your 3DS XL again if it works that is!

Also there is a way if you have an original 3DS charging cradle to make it fit your 3DSXL. All you have to do is put something under your 3DSXL to prop it up to make it fit in the original 3DS charging cradle.
