My old 3DS's battery is bloated and I wanted to replace it with a new chargable battery that I ordered and replaced it today. but it won't work. The orange light flickered for a second and then turns off. I can't even turn it on. So I decided to go to the store (where I bought it) and asked about it. The person said that it is an old model with a life span of 3 - 4 years (and got it for 3 years) and that I could buy a new one. I bought the New Nintendo 3DS XL and I want to transfer my data but I can't. I need 2 working 3DS's for the transfer, but the man said that I can just use the PC to copy and paste the files and said that he did it 3 times.
Shall I do it? or do I have to do something else? I don't want to make it any worse.
Thanks!

my other idea was to use my friends other normal 3ds to put my SD card in it and then transfer it to my NN3DSXL would that work too? I am mostly worried about my save file data, since all my game are physically bought, but apparently I can't transfer that over,

@Ichi Alright, I tried the tutorial without needing to remove the micro SD from the device, the thing is that you need windows 7/8.1 to do it and win10 doesn't garantee compatibility, and I have windows 10 sadly, I did everything but the 3DS won't appear on my computer.
Oh and I checked some threads regarding the same problem as mine and they can't save game data but only games that you bought via the e-shop. but I can try and call nintendo tomrrow, since they're closed now.

Oh nevermind, it found him, I only need to drag the save files in the NN3DSXL, but i wonder if I have to delete the files in the NN3DS and replace then with the old save files, the tutorial doesn't say

@Ichi Yesterday I tried, but it didnt came so I just started over, apparently I still got all my save files of my games expect Monster Hunter Generation which I had to start over but it's alright, it's a recently released game so i can catch up. And it's fine, but I dont think i'll do it again xD, I already made a new NNID and all so i'm good now. But still thanks alot for your help and hope that you'll have a safe trip.
EDIT: I was also wondering if formatting causes any harm to the 3DS? I did notice some blocks missing.
