Topic: Switch system transfer causing issues with pre installed game ?

Hello I was just wondering what happens to preinstalled games on switch when you transfer your user account and saves to the console which has got a pre installed game on it, because I plan to pick up the new pokemon switch and it comes with the game pre installed, but I'm worried that if I do a system transfer to it, it will get rid of the pre installed copy of let's go.

I don’t know about the preinstalled software on the target consol, but right now there’s not a way to transfer your saves between systems.

I imagine that a preinstalled title is tied to the system, not an account (as opposed to a purchased eShop title). I bought a used WiiU this year that had Mario Kart 8 on it after a system restore.

As far as the pre-installed game goes, the way it worked on the 3DS was that the game was tied to the console it was on until an account was linked to that console. Once an account was linked to the console, the game was linked to the account. It's not 100% certain that is they way it will work on the Switch, but I think it will be something like that.

@Sakura yeah I hope so, so hopefully when I've done the system transfer which should log me into the my nintendo account it should tie itself to that account.

@Mattyb97 Hello. May you share in your experience what happened with that pre-installed game. I'm counting with that game will be linked to the Nintendo Account once is set up in the console, but I'd like to be sure about this.

@Zathor I set up the switch with a new account but didn't link it to My Nintendo, then did a system transfer of my main account to the new switch. Once fully transferred I tried opening the game with my main user account and it then made me register the game to that account to tie it to that account.

@Mattyb97 Ok, That sounds as good news for me. I am buying a new console with a pre-installed game, but my case is a little different. I will be selling my old Switch console, but I promised the game is pre-installed in the new console to the buyer.

I want to set up a new user account (the one for the buyer) in the new console and link the account with their Nintendo Account to tie the game with the buyer's account. Then format the new console and make a user transfer from my old console to the new console. Then format the old console and set up the buyer's account in order to download the game in the old console.
