Topic: SSB4 - DLC Characters/Stages Lost After Putting SD Card in New DS

So my 2DS's thumbstick stopped working. No problem, EB Games decided to give me a replacement despite not having the receipt! I put the SD card and Super Smash Bros. into the new 2DS. No issues, I update the system and the game. Data is still there - for example, all my completed challenges and UNLOCKED (through wins) characters.

However, the DLC characters are NOT there. Nor are the DLC stages. I went into the Smash shop to see if I could just get them for free from there since I had bought them. Nope, I would have to pay AGAIN to get them. I have proof of the characters since I have win records with them, but no proof for the stages because I have no replays (unless there is some info on played stages I am unaware of).

Please help, I don't want to have to buy them again. I was thinking, maybe if I tried to add funds to my eShop account, so it would know my credit card details, and then obviously not end up adding the funds, it would remember having bought it? Since you obviously can't buy the same thing twice...I hope...OK this idea is stupid but I just want the DLC back

I bought none of the Mii Costumes, just all the stages and fighters.

DLC is tied to hardware, you needed to perform a system transfer between the broken 2ds and the new DS. Contact Nintendo and see if they can help you.

Edit: Or go back to EB and see if they still have it.

Yeah, anything you purchase through the eShop (including in-game DLC) is tied to your NNID and/or your console, not the SD card. Actually, your new system won't recognize anything from the SD card (except from pictures and music) because that data was created with a different system.

You had to do a transfer between systems.

As Shanneo mentions, Nintendo might be able to help you recover your NNID, but the easier way would be asking in the shop if they can let you do the transfer.

Bloop.

This being EB Australia, they're unlikely to have an issue with doing a transfer, in my (frequent) experience, they've been pretty good.

Mind you, my couple of dealings with Nintendo of Australia has been good too, but the only way to contact them is to phone.
