Hey all,
Before you read on, since the 16bit I haven't been in to the Nintendo scene, so my knowledge might be a bit worn out on this, so pardon me if the question I'm wondering is silly. I noticed (and read) about not being able to transfer data between Switches, but some(?) data can be save on a Amiibo, this make litlle sense to me.
So here's my situaties, I bought an Switch with Splatoon, my girfriend loved it, and I gave it to her to borrow. (hence we only see eachother in weekends due distance) So she played and leveled. After two weeks got my Switch back as I also wanted to play. So as an suprise I ordered another Switch with Splatoon to her address, and her account data was back set to zero (yes she has used the same My.nintendo credentials).
Now my question, does the data of her character get stored on a Amiibo, and caried to the same account on another Switch when the Amiibo is used?
I have to be honest here, the exact function of a Amiibo remains vague me after reading into it. Any help is welcome, thanks for reading,
Florian
As I understand it, an amiibo only stores your current equipment when you save to it. You can load this data on any file, but it's no substitute for an actual save data transfer, which is indeed impossible at the moment. Nintendo need to get on that.

That clears it up. Hope they'll fix this in the future, as well as sharing a game. Games costs are now doubled if we want to play together.
Thanks players!
