Topic: Rocket League - Software closing due to an error

Hi there,

My son has recently been experiencing an issue when trying to play Rocket League on his Switch. Every time he loads up the game and tries to play a match, (whether it is online, local or training), the game crashes and the message "The software was closed because an error occurred" all the time. The only way he can play the game is by turning Flight mode on. I have tried all the steps I can think of (deleting and re-downloading, checking for corrupt data, updating both software and console) and have also tried contacting both Nintendo Support and Rocket League support to help but apart from the same suggestions I have tried, nothing else helpful.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue with this game or another game and could offer any help?

Appreciate any help on this!

@Marzin Well, I won't be of much use to you concerning the game itself, because I don't own or play Rocket League, but I would advise you to edit the title of this topic by adding the name of the game at the beginning, so you'll attract more attention to it. Otherwise, people might just ignore it and you'll never get an answer.

@Marzin Here in the US, my Rocket League isn't crashing. Your Switch should show a popup window with an error code when your game crashes. If there is an error code, plug it into the search bar on a Nintendo support page. I don't know if the US and UK sites share the same database, so that's why I pasted both below. A Nintendo support search usually can tell you what your error code means, if there's a solution, or tell you to call Nintendo Support.

To check if your Rocket League is up to date, on the Switch home page, press the + button on the Rocket League game tile, click "Software Update", then select "Via interenet".

@Woomy_NNYes No error code pops up, just the message so there's nothing else I can search. I've checked for updates all the time and the software updated on Wednesday when they added the crate changes

@Marzin delete the game then redownload the game. Problem should be fixed.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

@1UP_MARIO tried that a few times, still doesn't work unfortunately

@Marzin wild, no error code. Ok. In your situation, this is when I call Nintendo Support. In the US here, it's fairly quick to get a real person on the line. They're good. They may, or may not, have late hours. I pasted the UK Nintendo Support phone number in my previous comment. Or you can go to Nintendo Support page, or your manual to look up the number. It's likely the same number wherever you find it.

Hi Martin, I have the same error. I can only get the game to work if I delete the user data. The error message comes back if I download the save cloud data to the user again. Did you have any joy in solving the issue yourself? Totally frustrating because the only way my son can please online or locally is if he doesn’t have access to all the extra stuff he has earned through credits and rewards. Hope to hear from you soon :0)
