Topic: Should I get a New 3DS or get my old 3DS repaired?

I have the standard normal Cosmos Black 3DS, and I've had it for over two years. But the Circle Pad recently broke. Now my dad made me an offer: Either we get it fixed and we split the cost 50/50, which would probably cost me about €33, or I pay him €50, he pays the other €140 and we get me a New 3DS. Now I'm not sure what to do.

I can afford both options just fine right now. It may sound like the obvious choice to go for the New 3DS, but I have a few problems with that:
First, there are many other things in our household that need replacing, like 3 laptops and a mobile phone, all of which won't last much longer. I don't want my dad to blow €140 on a New 3DS if getting the old one fixed'll only cost him €33. We don't have the money to replace those other things right now, but I do think we should save a little for it.
Second, they'll announce the NX next year. I still don't know what it is, but from what I can gather it's going to be a handheld-console hybrid that'll work with both the 3DS and Wii U. However, I'm not sure about that, and if it's something that'll replace the New 3DS, then I'm stuck with a brand new console that's already outdated. And I know it'll probably take about another year for the system to come out, but it's still something to keep in mind.
Of course there are pros to upgrading as well, like the extra functionalities of the New 3DS and the fact that I'll get a brand new console that won't need repairing for a good while, which can't be guaranteed for my old system.

So what do you guys think? Should I get my old 3DS fixed (total cost probably €75, cost for me €33) or should I get a New 3DS (total cost about €190, cost for me €50)?

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. In case of getting the New 3DS, should I get regular or XL?

It depends. If you're fine with the regular 3DS and how it plays, then get it fixed. If you prefer a better processor, the superior 3D, and the other features on the new 3DS, upgrade. Also, the NX is being announced next year, but there's no release date yet. Also, nobody knows if it's a home console, portable, or a hybrid. But, it's supposed to be a third pillar and coexist with Wii U and 3DS, so don't worry about the 3DS being replaced. Hope this helps.

I can't remember why I initially purchased a New 3DS XL back in February but I'm certainly glad I did. Everything about it is better than my old original cosmo black 3DS. I recommend upgrading instead of fixing.

If having a 3DS in the future is important to you (ie. you like to keep the good games you've got long term, not just complete them then get rid of) then get the new 3DS. It's the better system and should last you a good few years if you're careful with it. Try selling your current one to get back some of the cash. 3DS are common enough for there to be online guides to fix the circle pad, so someone else would likely take it on if you're not prepared to.

If you're not too bothered then just repair the current one and wait to see what NX brings.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Just make sure if you get a new one to do a system transfer BEFORE getting rid of your old one. Otherwise you will lose any digital games you have on it.
