I'm not sure what you can use that wouldn't damage the label. I'd probably try a magic eraser, but it's kind of like a fine piece of sandpaper, so you'd really have to watch to not rough up the label with it.

Anything that will remove the permanent marker ink, will also gobble up the ink from the label. If the writing is on the label, you're basically screwed.

I do NOT want to damage the label at all costs. However if put this "Goo Gone" on a Q-tip and lightly dabbed the area with were the marker is do think it would ruin the cartridge's label completely? I am fine if this strategy even I doses minor damage to the cartridge.

Here's a tip: Use permanent marker to remove permanent marker ink. Make sure that you don't let it dry. Apply it and then wipe it as soon as you can in a circular motion with paper towel. If it's on a glossy label, you should be fine I think.

Alright guys I got it! I used the Goo Gone very lightly and it and it did some damage, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. Thank you all for the help.

Should've just taken my suggestion and used permanent marker. Goo Gone on an adhesive label? ...of course that's going to cause damage to it.

Isn't there some kind of scientific soap to do the trick. I always see it on the shopping channel.

I did try that before I did Goo Gone...lets just say it didn't really work that well. I didn't do it to a wide area, but the area I did it to just smudged it up when I tried to wipe it off.

Well, I'm not going to say that you did it wrong, but maybe it would've helped if I provided a little more detailed in my instructions. I've done this plenty of times in the past and I've never been unsuccessful at removing permanent marker from labels. You're supposed to use the permanent marker to moisten the ink previously left behind. You can do small circles with the permanent marker over the previous marking and when it is sufficiently moistened, you'll notice that you're only making circles and you won't see the dried marking anymore. When you wipe it off quickly, it takes all the ink with it. Goo Gone would not have helped and I wish I saw that it was you yourself who suggested the use of Goo Gone because that's not what Goo Gone is for and I would've said something because I know that's stupid since I've already tried that back when I was younger. Oh well.
