So, I've done a lot of research on performing a System Transfer but have been unable to find an answer to this specific question. Sorry in advance if it's already been asked/answered. Here goes:

I already own an old 3DSXL with my NNID and downloaded games/saves on it. I just bought a New 3DSXL with Monster Hunter 4 pre-installed at launch. Initially, I didn't want to do a system transfer, so I started a save file on the New 3DSXL. I did NOT create a new NNID on the New 3DSXL. I am now having second thoughts and want to transfer my NNID to my New 3DSXL. I'm aware that after performing a transfer, both eShops will merge, and I will be able to download all downloadable games. I don't care about losing save data on the old 3DSXL, however, I DO want to keep the newly created Monster Hunter 4U data on the New 3DSXL. I also have a blank 32 gig microSD card, a PC, and can physically copy any and all files if necessary.

Given all that: Is there a way to perform a System Transfer to my New 3DSXL but still manage to keep my Monster Hunter 4 save data?

Sorry that's so long-winded, tried to keep it concise. Thanks in advance, all.

Sorry, once you do the transfer, the save data will be lost

Understood, I'm guessing the transfer will invalidate the save. Would that still be the case if I backed up the save file on my PC and restored it afterward?
