So I get home today and I notice that the light on the wii is off. I try turning it on and... nothing. I try different outlets throughout the house (hoping that maybe the outlet just shorted or something), and I get no juice to the wii. What can I do at this point? Is this thing dead, or can it be fixed? Any info on this would be great because I just don't have the money to go out and buy a new one right now...

If you know someone else who has a Wii, see if you can check yours with their power supply. If that's the problem, call Nintendo. This happened to a friend of mine, and they sent him a new power supply for free.

It happened to me a few weeks ago. If it was form the first Wiis, it possibly be that the Wii plaque has burnt. It can be reapired but you will loose ALL: VC games, saves... etc. It cost me 115€ to repair it.

I'll definitely try this before sending it out to be fixed or anything.

Yeah, it's one of the first wiis so I'm worried that this may be the case. If it would cost me 170 dollars (or whatever the conversion comes out to), I'd probably be better off just buying a new one because they're going for $199 right now.

But if you send it to Nintendo for repairs, don't they backup all of your data and so forth before fixing it, and then put it back on your system? That's what they did for my parent's Wii when they sent it in. They were concerned they'd lose all their saved stuff and Nintendo assured them that they would back all of that up for them.

Was out of warranty AND it had Homebrew Channel in it and Nintendo ask extra 60€ if you had it installed. If i send it to nintendo it would easily be at least 180€.
Never heard of this problem before. Is this a new development?
