OK, maybe I am, but my user name is not "weirdadam." For some reason though, when people quote me lately, it shows up as "weirdadam says." Initially, I thought this was Cowlaunch fooling around and editing the "quote=" tag to pick on me, but now I've seen it happen once more in the same thread and once more in another, each by a different user. So whoever's fooling with my account, very funny.

On a related note, before this incident, my name would always be quoted as "_adam," even though I clearly have no underscore in my name and have my first letter capitalized. Anyway, if this is a joke by the moderators, that's fine, but if it's some odd bug that appends "weird" to normal people's names, I figured someone should know!

Double posted and quoted to show what I mean. Notice that the "weirdadam" is actually a profile link, so it isn't me messing around. If you edit someone's name, it stops being a link. Also, it goes to a different profile, one without an avatar and opened over a year ago... weird!

I noticed that, too. I thought you had changed your user name somehow and the change had only partially propagated.

Also, I think I show up in quoted material as "Chicken+Brutus," which makes me sound like something a rooster and a Roman senator would chisel together into a tree.

Yea, if you edit a post with quotes, it delinks them all. The forum software is weird like that.

@CowLaunch: i figured it had something to do with quoting names that involved spaces. i wonder if it's impossible to quote names with spaces if you don't put in the +? let's find out: hey, awesome, it's totally possible! but if you edit, it tries to throw the + back in there for no good reason, what the heck? o_O

also,

(a) when i hit the 'quote' link up there, 'quote=Adam' showed up in the box (plus brackets), so I thought it was going to be fine (thus, 'looks normal to me' ), but then when I hit 'post reply' it finagled itself into 'weirdadam'. so then I edited without realizing i would lose the link, and then i edited again because i'd totally screwed everything up. D:

also: i just figured out that if you attempt to quote 'Adam', you get the link to 'weirdadam', but when you go to edit your comment it stays 'weirdadam' (just like any italics or bold tags in brackets get turned into asterisks or underscores in an edit). If you post your edited reply without changing the value back to 'Adam', that's when it turns into the delinked 'weirdadam', but if you make the effort to change your quote value back to 'Adam', it'll re-link to 'weirdadam'.

this is totally weird. i bet it's a conspiracy of some sort.
