Hey Guys!
I'm brand new to this site (where's it been all my life!) but I've come first and foremost with a plea for help :/

I've had a big ongoing problem with my GamePad on my Wii U (and when I say on going I mean its been happening on and off for over a year!) but lately its just packed in all together. I've searched through countless troubleshooting and help guides to try and find a solution to the problem but no one seems to have had it.

The problem is as follows.
When I turn on the gamepad the blue power light stays on for a few seconds before fading out into black; at no point does the pad turn on BUT it does turn the console on when this happens. I've then tried plugging it in and charging it and turning it on, but again the blue power light steadily fades out to the orange charging light. Now the real freaky stuff starts when I proceed to unplug the pad and the orange charging light stays on! Only when I take the back off and remove the battery does the light go off. Put the battery back in, and the whole process repeats it's self.

I have today bought a new battery and the same thing is happening so I am sure it is my pad which is has the issue, this thread really is a last ditch effort to solve the issue my self before I contact Nintendo :/

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

I am afraid you will have to contact Nintendo, either that or look for a replacement pad on ebay.

Something very similar happened to mine after I accidentally dropped the thing. It behaved just as you say (blue light fading away, orange light not turning off until I removed the battery, etc).

A big connector on the back of the main board got unlocked, so it wasn't working correctly. I just had to open the gamepad and press it back in place.

If you still have warranty and/or don't want to open up the gamepad though, I guess your best bet is to contact Nintendo.

Thanks for that Morpheel,

glad i've finally found someone who's had the same issue! I've decided to take your advice and i've ordered my self a three winged screwdriver for the pad.
